Dear Disney Security,
Over the years you have done a fine job with securing us all as guests entering each and every park and I/we applaud you for that effort. WHen I am in wdw next week each security guard I encounter I will be personally thanking you for your great work, however in the last couple of visits (this past Oct and last April) I have noticed, and I will be nice here, a sense of complacency so I plead for you to as you missed many of times in these last two visits, go through my bag inside and out, no matter how long it takes or how long I have to wait in line for me to get to you, I dont care. I care that you are taking the time with each and every one of us for our own security.
I know that you view us guests as in a hurry and are an impatient society of which I agree with your viewpoints but don't let this get to you and take your time. I am so tired of people complaing of waiting in line to get through security just cause they are impatient a holes.

Again, I am glad for you and your presence and thank you for all of your hard work. I know the day Disney might get hit is possible so please keep us safe and be on your toes all the time.
Regards & I look forward to thanking each and every one of you next week.

Security checks at Walt Disney World and the Disneyland Resort have always been more about security theater than an actual deterrent. All you need is some cargo pockets and you get to walk right into the "secure" zone.

Not necessarily. My brother wore cargo pants on our last trip and he got stopped three separate times, twice whilst entering Magic Kingdom and once while entering Epcot.

I didn't have the experience as your brother did. I wore Cargo Pants for the last 4 out of my last 5 trips to WDW at least and I never got stopped at all.

The only time I didn't wear Cargo pants was the fact I was at WDW in early December of 2010. It was cold when I was at WDW in early December of 2010 and had record lows in temperatures matter of fact.

Wouldn't it make more sense to contact them versus posting on a message board if you are truly concerned?

It's "security theater", just like TSA, but security theater is at least better than no security.

From my limited research, I've been unable to find any crime statistics before and after these security checkpoints were installed, but I'd wager that they are a waste of resources and real estate. Also, I've read about many incidents of undercover TSA agents being able to smuggle in weapons, including firearms. So, theater security can be nothing more than a cerebral placebo. It's effectiveness is most likely moot.

No
This past February we watched several groups of mostly trend walk right through security with backpacks on (always in the early evening). It was interesting as they would size up the security then make their move. I'm talking multiple kids on different days. Not an isolated incident. After today it makes you think. Anyone at any age if they really are intent on harming someone can do it. Sickening knowing kids were injured and an 8 year old killed. Disgusting. Lets just hope WDW security really has more going on behind the scenes than we all know.

Yup.. Security at Disney is a farce, just like Airports... if bad people want to do bad things, they'll do it anyway...

Yay.. Disney checks bags..... what is stopping some whack job from carrying a load pistol in his pocket?

NOTHING....

It's pointless, all it does is make delusional people FEEL safer...
