A look at this year's completed Epcot holiday decorations

The bush trees at the entry weren't even up last week when Holiday time officially was a week in. The lack of topiaries at the entry is what really makes the thing look slack.

To be fair, the World Showcase is pretty decked out in MOST countries, which wasn't shown in the pix.

The TREE is even broken tonight. The multicolor lights are on, but the middle 1/3 of white lights are out.

The lights were plagued with reliability issues last year. I was expecting they would be resolved for this year. Perhaps it's just a one off, too early to tell.

WDW exists to disappoint these days - they are just living up to our lowered expectation. Some real Disney Holiday Magic (classy and full fledged) is still available 3000 miles away in Anahiem.

There are some cutbacks, no doubt, but WDW still has some very good holiday offerings. Reflections of Earth, Osborne Lights, and the Castle Dreamlights are very strong additions.

This is the saddest thing I've ever seen at WDW. Even sadder than Disco Yeti. My absolute favorite park to visit at Christmas, reduced to almost nothing  They even took away the topiary display at the front of the park (which my family used to take a traditional family portrait in front of every year; oh well, so much for that :brick:).

At this point I wonder why they even keep bringing the tree out. Just do the Candlelight Processional and be done with it; I'm getting sick of this crap

I'm not sure this is entirely fair--none of the other parks have EVERY building decked out--it's just select areas that are decorated, and World Showcase is still heavily decorated. That's just where the holiday decorations are focused at Epcot. I think the thing that makes Holidays Around the World not seem like enough is that it occurs at the back of the park. While Future World seems pretty lacking in Christmas cheer, it was never the focus and I don't necessarily mind the shifting of the holiday topiaries. There are already too many characters in Future World...keep them in World Showcase...

A futuristic icon tree would be pretty nice, though...

I'm currently on my 3rd visit to EPCOT this trip and yes, it's VERY under shelving compared to years past. Seems like every year they cut something new. I seem to remember them doing something with the grass space between The Land and Imagination.

Wow. Nearly speechless.

There are more Christmas decorations up at Disney California Adventure's main entrance, and that entrance area is currenly being hacked to bits as the extreme park makeover has just arrived at DCA's main entrance to turn it into Buena Vista Street.

But even in the midst of all the construction and destruction, they still decorated the Golden Gate Bridge with wreaths and lights and put up the candy cane letters and characters on the CALIFORNIA sign this year. You still have to have some Christmas cheer in the middle of the construction walls.

I dare say the continuing cutbacks at Epcot, an established and mature theme park with a solid attendance base and no current construction, is very fishy. There just is no good reason for less and less Christmas as the years go along. It's troubling, and very suspicious if you ask me. :veryconfu

^ Couldn't agree more. Suspicious is actually a proper word in this case......... we know they love to cut budgets, but removing Christmas decorations and not replacing them? It's almost as if Ebeneezer Scrooge works at TDO.

If they put too much out it starts to look like Christmas upchuked:hurl:.

mimi, you're from Sacramento. Surely you've come down from NorCal to see Disneyland at Christmas. Disneyland gets the Christmas decor package in every land except Tomorrowland. (In the future, they apparently don't celebrate holidays).

Christmas doesn't just upchuck on Disneyland. Christmas practically drowns Disneyland in a sea of decor.

To further this disgusting metaphor further, I think a great Disney park like Epcot deserves something at Christmas more than just a small burp. :hammer:

I've never seen the full splendor of Epcot at Christmas, but I think these pictures are still a nice touch. Personally, I get Christmas rammed down my throat the day after Halloween between my students whining about Christmas break and my retail job putting up wreaths November 1st, so I like seeing a bit of Christmas in the parks without it going overboard.
