A long time Disney fan turns sour!

So you found a restaurant that charges 23 bucks for tacos. For one thats not your only option, for two that sounds a lot better than what I ate, and three it looks like a suit down restaurant, maybe I'm wrong. I don't care. My point was that food still costs a fortune outside the bubble as well. I ate plenty of things at Disney that didn't cost anywhere near 23 dollars. Most things I ate matter of fact, did not cost that much. There are hundreds of places to eat.

You're moving the goal post. Your statement was about tacos, not "plenty of things". $10.53 is not expensive for 3 tacos and a drink. A similar meal would be $17.51 at Epcot.

Many things are different in los estados unidos...

You have thousands of years of history and culture...we like reality tv buffoons...

Different strokes for different folks
It doesn't matter how much history or culture our Country has. The fact of the matter is, Disney World really is not that expensive compared to other theme parks. Thorpe Park is down the road from me and certainly having "thousands of years of history and culture" has no impact on the park whatsoever. It's not based around any kind of UK history. It's a theme park with roller coasters, food and people.

When you compare that to US prices in Florida £3.50 is equivalent to $4.80 (according to Google conversion). From experience (I know the water tastes like crap but still) a bottle of water from WDW is $3.00 - $3.50 depending on the brand, which is around £2.50. Still a lot for a bottle of water considering I can buy Smart Water in ASDA for 80p a bottle, but still cheaper in comparison to the cost in the UK.

It's not as hard as you think...

Don't pay $300 for pop century in 2019

Don't buy cabanas.

Don't buy Halloween tickets in august

Don't buy "after hours magic"

Don't buy "the ultimate AK tour"

...none of those things affect anyone's vacation happiness except in the most marginal of context. Not one bit. Hold the line.

And if you need a protest, the line can form on my six. That's not the way, however.

But what you really shoudn't do...is kinda what you hinted at:
"Oh well...I'll just pay"

I ask you to make intelligent choices on a case by case basis...not boycott. It's not that hard.
Your aren't going to get enough people to make a difference. That's what I'm saying. People will pay to go, and they will purchase what they want.

Ok...so comparing quick service food costs at Disney parks to the real world is about the safest example you can get if you're pro-disney.

What's gone through the roof Over the iger era is the prices for sitdown meals, tickets, hotels and premium upsells. That's where it's hard to defend...not really pecos or electric umbrella.

I haven't done the math on it, but I bet it would cost about the same or possibly less to Uber to the nearest Publix and buy a case of water than to buy a dozen bottles of water at Disney. Just up the road here, it's $1.99 for 24.

I get your points...don't dispute that.

But Disney's American parks weren't built on a pricing index compared to U.K. or EU pricing...so the evolving price is usually argued compared to the American dollar.

I was making an observation about food prices. I didn't say that the tacos at DisneyWorld are cheaper.

You made the following statement:

"Also the other day I was at lunch with co workers at Chipotle, just a regular Chipotle here in Denver and I order 3 tacos with guac and a drink. 13.12 and all I could think about was this thread and how people said the food costs are sooooo much higher at Disney. 13 bucks for 3 tacos and a drink."

I showed examples of much higher prices at Disney comparing like items.

You then moved the goalpost:

"I was making an observation about food prices. I didn't say that the tacos at DisneyWorld are cheaper."

You said:

"how people said the food costs are sooooo much higher at Disney. 13 bucks for 3 tacos and a drink."

In what reality is $17.51 not much higher than $10.53?

In what reality is $26.05 not much higher than $10.53?

I do think the price of food is higher in Disney, because food is always higher in tourist places, whether it's a theme park, amusement park, water park or movie theater. And...it depends on how you eat. You can eat at Disney on a budget, or you can splurge and go all out and eat and drink whatever you want. I don't know any place I've ever been on vacation where the food in specialty places or touristy places isn't higher than your restaurants back home, unless you live in a tourist rich area. I expect to pay more.

It’s about the same when you compare Amusement Parks in the US. Admission, plus paid extra rides, plus paid-fast pass, plus $15 parking, plus stupid prices for food and drinks. And let’s not even talk about the money for games every 5ft.lol

Some people realize that, so Disney parks aren’t as shocking as a result. Some people don’t realize that, and will continue to pretend that WDW charges more for ice cream, bottled water, and counter service food, than anywhere else.
