We are hous shopping. We are looking at a house with a full basement with a roomed off area perfect for a playroom. I want to do the playroom in Disney World. I could use some ideas, though. It needs to be gender neutral or both gender inclusive. I don't want it to just be the world of disney. I want it to remind my kids of disney world. Ive already decided to do the basement bath in mickey parts, and my kitchen will have touches of mickey :) Did anyone here decorate in Disney/Disneyworld?

Post pics of ANY disney themed room you have!

how are you with a paint brush? I mean, there are limitless possibilities but it all depends on your creative skill and ability

here is an example pulled off the net, just a disney mural but well done

I wish I had picture to show but I remember way back in the late 50s or early sixties, and this was before disneyland or Disneyworld but I was like 8 or 9 at the time and I remmber going to my uncles house with my dad and just in awe of seeing a whole wall in his living room he had Drawn and painted with Snow White and the 7 Dwalfs. It was just beautiful. Me I can't draw a straight line.

An ongoing project for me is my "Pirates of the caribbean" basement, which I continually update (like Disneyland, its never complete!). I will try to post photos when the current incarnation is done-recent additions include more skeleton pirates and the burning town "flame effect"

Attraction posters are IMO the best way to get the Disney park feel in your room. We did that and put some other stuff up like a Mickey statuette from the NYC store...a WDW picture frame with my wife and I in front of cinderella castle. We put the WDW throw on the floor in front of the couch (the $15 with puchase throw)...I want to put up a decorative plate with the castle as well. Good luck

poc room

my daughter has a very small room and loved the poc movies and ride. when she was a sophomore in high school she redid her room from the floor up based on the idea of what would captain jacks cabin look like. originally the room had a loft bed with gold satin curtains hiding the computer desk area and the bedding was purple satin and jewel tone satins. it's been a few years and the bed is now a queen size bed but it's still a fun room. things that are a little hard to see in the pics are the details in the boats, the flooring was carpet and is now large/wide width warm dark wood, the barrel that serves as a night stand has a pirates lamp on it, the pics on the walls are nautical adult like, pics from the movie and one captain hook. she has little details like a stuffed jack the monkey, the dog with the keys, dark/aged antique heavy keys that sort of thing. please ignore the cheer trophies lol.

barrel top toy chest is great for her million pairs of shoes

we love the mirror. it was a standard (family hand me down) dresser mirror we turned sideways, sprayed gold, added the jewels, and the top piece was from a local lowes store also spray painted gold to give it a little different look. we now look at the mirror outside the exit of pirates and tell each other they could have done better :animwink:.

the candles in the candle holders on the left were from a local discount store. the mirror originally matched the dresser still in use poor old thing lol. we got the map pics and hanging bucket at a flea market. the poc and captain hook pics were from the internet and we just got frames at walmart. the red dress on the skeleton was actually a banquet dress so it to was recycled.

she was 16 when we did the room and is now 21 starting grad school and has no intention of redoing the room any time soon. good luck with your basement (we don't have those here in florida).

to post pics, I usually upload to photobucket and use the IMG code or, if I have them on FB, I rightclick and go to properties. Then copy the URL. Then I type then paste in the code and type the same /IMG inside of brackets. :)

That POTC room is COOL!!! Yeah FL doesn't have basements which is why I'm so excited about having one! This is our first basement! lol Im from Jax. DH is from NM.

Please help me understand why a mickey glove towerl rack is so expensive?! Oy!

lol jax is like our second home...my daughter cheered with florida elite allstars (their main gym in jax so we had a lovely 80 mile one way trip 2-3 times a week for years). i know how you feel about official disney items. they can be sooooo expensive so we tried to mix key items with things we could do with what we had. to make some items in her rooms look a little like the end scene on the ride with all the treasure we spray painted plates, the mirror, and even things like an unpainted/unglazed little statue of a wolf that she never got around to doing. once we got started we were surprised at how much we could make work. we had to have things like the keys, the monkey, she had to have the skeleton, and the floor was due to be redone anyway.

for some reason i don't have any pictures of it but on my grand daughters bedroom wall we used a projector to draw and paint a cameo side profile of sleeping beauty. the wall is a dark pink and the cameo is a lighter shade of pink. she has all the typical disney princess toys, dress up clothes etc...

Right now, we are driving about 45miles one way several times a week for all star cheer. I'll have to look that gym up when we are back in Jax. Usually I mix a dash of the expensive stuff with "generic" accents and colors but wow that thing is expensive for a TOWEL RACK! lol seriously it was, like, $250 or something
