A Disney Trip … the perfect length of stay … is

You know what's funny?
UK's retirement age is the same as the USA!

yeah but typically companies there offer more vacation time to start with than those in the US....typically.

Heck, even in my company, my colleagues in Scotland get more than the typical team member out of our US offices.

The United States has markedly less vacation for its workers than what they do in most European countries. I think most have at least 5 weeks vacation as the norm. We usually do around 8-9 nights. We arrive early on the first day and do resort adventures or hit a park for a few hours. After arrival day we do 5 days at WDW, a rest/Disney Springs day and 2 days at Universal.

Are you being sarcastic? I thought Americans were known for working a lot and not taking vacations while Europeans took a lot of vacations (and early retirements). I could be totally off lol.

Where I work, we accrue time (5 hours each 2 week pay period). If you have the time, you can take it. Some people have hundreds of hours saved up, which is crazy to me. After you get to a certain point, they make you sell your time if you don't use it. Not me - my time is valuable. I plan on taking 2 weeks off in July. One week only at Disney, but the other week will be doing stuff at home.

No sarcasm. I think it's terrible that people don't have enough vacation time for a two-week trip. I started with three weeks and am up to having 5+ weeks off per year.

OK, I wasn't sure. Sometimes it's hard to read tone. I thought 2 weeks (minimum) per year was normal. Guess you and I are just lucky. :)

My husband works for the US government and only gets two weeks for the entire year. Makes it hard to do much.

I get 120 hours (4 weeks) but only because I've worked at my job for 7 years and I've worked my way up from 2 weeks.

We could probably never afford more than the 6 nights that we do now, and I think that's about all I could do in the parks. I dunno. Usually by the time we leave I'm ready to get back home and get back to eating regularly again, but I can't really say because I've never done it!

Seven nights. Six full park days; two at Magic Kingdom, one and a half at Epcot, one and a half at Animal Kingdom, and one at Studios. Always Saturday to Saturday so I have all day Sunday to unpack and regroup before work.

I don't like using more than one week of vacation at a time because I'd rather be able to take a few full weeks off over the course of the year.
