A Booking Question

So my husband and I are planning a trip in May. We are going with both of our families, there will be 10 total. My husband, mom, dad and myself have AP passes and everyone else in our group will be able to get military passes, my brother is in the Navy and is getting them.

We want to book 2-2 bedroom villas at either the Boardwalk, Wilderness Lodge or maybe Baylake Towers. I want to go ahead and book as soon as possible. Can we book rooms and get meal plan without getting passes? With the current discount I don't see that's possible. Should we wait till AP deals to come out so we can book room and get meal plan without buying passes? Or would we be able to use a military discount on both villas?

I hope this all make sense.

Thank you for all your advice...

Quite honestly is sounds like the dining plan is going to make problems for you. To book with the dining plans you must either buy regular tickets or book at an AP discount or the AP annual offer which is full price. You can also not combine discounts, so if you get a military discount on the room you can not also get an AP rate.

I would look at foregoing the dining plan and look at getting the Tables in Wonderland discount card. Depending on your length of stay and dining habits, it could save you much more than the dining plan. You will also be able to simply book a room only at whatever discount is best.

We like getting the meal plan because once we get into the parks we don't have to spend any money...everything is paid for and we don't have to worry about keeping track of spending, just our meals. We have used the meal plan on our last 6 or 7 trips and feel like getting it is the best option for us.

If you have an AP and are eating many meals in WDW places, get yourself a Tables in Wonderland card and book the room using the AP discount. I've never found any "free" dining plan that could beat AP discount and TiW.

I voted for the BW villas because I like the rooms there more than WL. WL is fine, though.

I would never choose to stay at the CR/BLT because I don't like the place...but that's me.

All three resort options are wonderful. I didn't vote because choosing a resort is going to depend on your preferred way to get to certain parks.

Do you want to have the ease of walking to MK? Choose BLT.

Will you be spending a lot of time in the World Showcase? Then pick BWV.

Don't mind Disney transport? The WLV will make for a charming stay.

The AP/Military/DDP rules apply to all resorts. I would pick the resort based on your interests and then work out the deal later. The AP & TiW deal sounds like the way to go. Yes, you'll pay a bill in the parks when you eat, but you have more control over the price of your meal than the fixed price of the DDP.

Good luck! :)

Military Discount..40% off the resorts. I use this discount religiously. You can also get a 5 day park hoppers at a HUGE discount from your brother..he can but up to 10 I think per year. He can make both reservations and the discounts apply for both rooms..there is no limit on them. You will have to decide about the dining plan but may get a deal with your brother making the reservations as this isnt tied to tickets.

The military salute is a 4 day park hopper this year, not 5 day. What is the 5 day u are referring to?

I love Boardwalk because of the proximity to EPCOT, DHS, and BC/YC.
I like WL because of the boat launch to MK ( woodsy also).
I would love BLT , but is is too pricey for us.:( Being a monorail resort, and that it's fairly new, and that it's close to Contemporary/MK area- that would sell me!:D
All good choices!:D
Have fun!:D

I would choose WL. I love the cozy and romantic feel of this resort! The Deluxe amenities are so nice too! I was considering choosing Bay Lake, but I have never stayed there and don't care for the contemporary resort. But the location was the draw as I like being close to MK. :)
