A better PI

No kids at PI, dammit! That isn't a good atmosphere for kids to be in. They shouldn't be allowed in at all, not even just to roam the streets. Some parents bring their kids to PI and then have the nerve to complain about how the drunken adults are acting around their precious little angels. Well, you brought your child to a place that is essentially a small city of bars, so you have no place to complain about legal adults consuming alcohol and acting like idiots. If I want to go to PI and get completely hammered, I shouldn't have to worry about falling over onto somebody's kid, or walking into a stroller (or getting run over by one!), or just encountering kids at all. Disney needs a place that is kid-free. I can behave in the parks while drunk (yay fiesta margarita!), but I think that at PI, misbehaving is almost encouraged given the heavy bar scene, so kids have no place there.

Just about every single thing at WDW is kid friendly - what in the world would it hurt to have a small chunk of land dedicated to adults? PI should be 21 or at least 18 and over - period.

There are plenty of other areas for kids/teens to enjoy themselves. I never went to PI until after I was 21 - my parents never took us there and the most likey reason is that they thought it was for an older crowd and therefore not suitable for kids.

I miss the Jazz Club too, however, I use to attend every weekend for their last 2 years in existence and never once have I seen a packed house. Now, I stop by Raglan Road every weekend for a pint of Guinness and the place is always packed. So, from a business point of view, Disney made the right choice for change. I only wish that you could leave the Raglan Road premises with Guinness in hand, but its not allowed, a minor inconvenience.

I like live bands, but I do prefer band performances on an outside stage as oppose to inside a club. It just seems to create a more festive, atmosphere. Young, old, and in between sort of come together in spontaneous harmony.

I like the stilt-walkers, I think they are entertaining - they try to liven up a rather dead thoroughfare - and they do a decent job.

The "Go Go" girls in and out of 8 Trax are ok - nice to look at - but I'm not too impressed by their dancing. I'd rather watch someone do the "robot" like the silver-clad Chad Smith in the Bank of America TV commercial.

The DJ Booth can be fun. I like the female DJ, she likes to interact with the passing crowd and seems to encourage spontaneous dancing among the passer-bys. Some of the regular, weekly passer-bys can dance quite good and thats always entertaining to watch along with a circle of onlookers. There is one other male DJ in the booth that is good too - forgot his name.

I think once those store vacancies are filled, it will also liven up the thoroughfare.

I like it when the BET Soundstage has a DJ outside in the patio area. It's nice to breakaway from the crowd inside and get a breath of fresh air but still maintain the dancing groove.

The Hula Hoops are ok I guess, but not for me - I'll just watch.

I wish they had a blues band once in a while - I know, HOB is just a few blocks away.

Do many people use that "water taxi" over where that center stage use to be? I really haven't seen too much activity there. Maybe its used more during the daytime.

Mannequins is a good place to listen and dance to electronica music. However, they really should think about hiring some guest DJs every now and then - like DJ Baby Anne or DJ Icey or DJ Fiddler - there are many good ones to choose from. I never really cared for those posers dressed in little mirrors that pose in different positions on that narrow balcony above the dance floor - not very exciting or entertaining at all. The gush of steam always gets every one a little excited though.

8 Trax is my favorite club - I think they should expand it to accommodate the ever-growing crowd. I think they should show less trivia on video screen and more dance videos, especially those old classic Soul Train Line dance videos. I don't like the Village People, but many do, so thats when I head for the head.

Motions is a good club too. It has some friendly bartenders. Sometimes that female DJ I talked about earlier is there DJ-ing which is good. I like those regular, weekly dancers there that hang by the stage - they often have some spontaneous dancing routines and put on a little show - thats cool - crowd participation is good.

OK, I'm done for now.

just a thought, I dunno if I would even do something like this but if they had a guided club hopping tour with a cast member like they do in Cancun...might give guests a chance to be with a group of 20-25 people and have the cast member guides take care off getting drinks for them and making sure they have a good time....actually nevermind, its a great idea and I would do it:hammer:

Its sad to see so many of the other clubs go away. I am not sure that opening it up to through traffic from the markeplace to the west end will bring in more PI customers. It just may frustrate those who currently go there...

Although... who can say that the birth of Citywalk and the development of other clubs in Orlando might have siphoned off a good bit of demand from PI? it would be an interesting study....

But the magenta, when set on a light blue background of nearly the same color value, will seem to vibrate and lose its violet undertones. The blue will visually melt into the area surrounding it, and the red will look progressively pinker as one continues to look at it.

:D

My graphic design freakishness is coming out.

Raze PI and put more adult-friendly restaurants and dinner clubs in. PI is mostly just a hangout for CPs, and as such isn't very profitable.

:(

Sorry, but it's true. At one point in 2005, all the dance clubs at PI were going to be demolished. Now they've apparently decided to keep Motion and Mannequins...I still think that's a mistake...modern club culture simply doesn't fit into "Disney."

What about a really modern/interactive coffee house. They could have really comfy sofas, fantastic art on the walls and interesting sculptures, games like scrabble, charades, maybe some Disney Trivial Pursuit, cool picture books on the coffee tables. You could get some amazing coffee, throw a little kahlua and cream in with it.

Oooooo could I be Ross?

I think they should have something for teens. I went to PI when I was 13 and 14. I did the comedy club, and the rockin roll beach club. I was with both my parents, I had the time of my life, maybe b/c we were the only ones at R'and R' bC I do see, however how it is inapproprtiate for kids who are younger to come. I also enjoyed the Adventurers club. I also enjoyed the concerts.
