MK Cinderella Castle Set to Return to Classic Color Scheme

I wonder if this means a restoration of the original HEA projections. They are still modified in terms of content and colors because of the 50th color scheme.

For example, Hercules was moved during the Go The Distance segment. The lamp during Aladdin was also moved and made smaller.
I don't think whoever is in charge of projection media noticed this, which is weird since HEA has pre-50th and color corrected projections from when it reopened in 2021. And with the correct placement of character and prop footage.

Im not sure the Dream Lights will ever return as long as projection mapping is being used. Not that it’s not possible, just that they think they’re not needed. I honestly wonder if they should coexist. 🤷‍♂️

I'm happy. This may be waaay overthinking it but I feel like those colors are symbolic of classic Walt Disney World, the days where you didn't have to plan your whole day in the parks on your phone and still use it throughout the day for Lightning Lanes and such. Returning to the color pallette isn't going to fix these problems of course, but it reminds us of a simpler time, which automatically puts us in a better mindset when visiting the parks, which hopefully can inspire us to simply enjoy WDW for what it is a little bit more, and what it can hopefully return to one day.

How do we know really???? None of us were expecting this today?

Also, No Nighttime Parade for close to 9 Years....now we have MK'S Old School Schedule back! :)

A 50th Fireworks Spectacular that's still Good enough for DAH......but HEA returned anyway....

We can't be sure on what MK wants to return I think......

And if the lights are still in storage… still work, the hang up may have been not wanting to replace with new wires that matched the new scheme. If going back to basically the old scheme, the old wires will work again.

Actually... two years ago one of our insiders said it was under serious consideration and close to happening.

That may be over. Or not.

Maybe next year the lights will return after the castle restoration. That is assuming they plan on having the restoration done at some point next year.

I’m glad the pink is going away— it photographed well at sunset but any other time of day it always looked a little gray to me, like chewed bubble gum :/

That being said, I hope they can find a middle ground besides just reverting to the exact same color scheme from before, which looked drab and washed out after awhile in the sun. Maybe if they kept some of the gold elements? I know the announcement mentions it, but the concept art has me skeptical that they’re keeping much. At the very least, a more frequent schedule to refresh paint would help.

It’s funny, I actually think the concept art for the pink castle looked like a good balance with the deep/navy blue turrets and more of a cream/pale pink castle. But instead we got… what we got 😅

It turned out so much pinker this (like disgustingly pink especially in 2020). This ironically looks a lot more in line with what we're getting in the future

So then the cherry pickers will be present and can intrude on guests photographing the castle. Same issue as I was posting.
Can't really avoid that (well, technically you can, you make them paint at night but you know Disney), the alternative is covering the entire castle in scaffolding and doing one of the painted scrims, which would look awful.

When they did the pink they had a paint by numbers type of setup, every "brick" had a number placed on it which could only be seen if you were up close. They then painted the sides first in the moat area to avoid it affecting photos too much, and by the time they got to the front the park had closed so it didn't really affect anyone.

If they’re anything like my lights, they won’t work again after five years! 😂

In all seriousness though, with the tech constantly getting better, they would want to start fresh if they had any intention of bringing them back (which I’m doubtful of sadly). The install and removal was extremely unpopular, similar to the reasons why we won’t get a HM overlay. We’ll see what happens, but I’m assuming 2026 would be the earliest it could happen anyway at this point.

…it is a nice thought…

But sadly the writing is on the wall and you can look forward to more line fees and block pricing “exclusive” tickets to try and stay ahead of a shrinking profit margin

Did they give a reason/excuse as to why now? Seems embarrassing on their part and unlike Disney to admit to the original being a mistake....

I could see it having a certain symbolic value that they want to showcase. Also, in terms of logistics, the park is going to be in deep construction mode for awhile so I would think it’s better to do it now vs. when there are shiny new attractions everywhere.

Mildly conspiratorial / hopeful point - maybe they want to put something in place for future shows / effects during this work. Would an MK drone show require any changes to the castle?

I am glad that the dreamlights have not and hope they will not return even if it means having to travel to get crane pictures.

The last time Dream Lights were installed, it was done outside of operating hours. The cherry pickers retract and 'hide' behind the castle. There were no pickers/cranes getting in the way of D-Light installation.

While we're on the topic, let's re-dispel last year's myths that are bound to resurface:
You can have HEA-level projections on the castle with D-Lights on it with no discernible difference.
Pictures that will be posted showing how ugly and intrusive D-Lights look are zoomed in shots. Pictures from the hub without zooming-in show they're practically invisible.

They should drill tiny holes in the castle and install LEDs all across it that wouldn’t be noticeable to the naked eye, but could be used during shows and for Dreamlights.

Better idea... cover the castle in LED panels!!
