Magic Kingdom Starlight Parade Brings New Annual Passholder Park Reservation Rule

Nights parades traveling from Frontierland to Main Street is an operational nightmare. Even if they try it at first (because it’s been so long they have forgotten how to run a night parade) they will quickly reverse course and switch to starting on Main Street.

That’s my thought. It will be interesting to see what they end up doing.

What makes it worse for a night vs. day parade?

I would think if crowd control is an issue spreading out the route as much as possible would be the easiest way to ease crowding.

Trying to understand this new change: if I have a reservation for HS, am I allowed to “hop” to MK later in the day or do I need to have a reservation for MK in order to enter at anytime? We typically hop to different parks in different days of our trip and I’m just trying to plan if we will be allowed to hop into MK or if we need to basically plan for only a MK day?
Just have a ressie to ANY Park, and tap in to that Park before hopping to MK….

Again, make sure you tap in to Park you have ressie BEFORE hopping to MK

I can’t remember the last time hopping was blocked. Not even NYE.

Perhaps opening night although I anticipate a media night to avoid bloggers ruining this.

I think it’s more likely that park reservations will sell out.
Hopefully they don’t create an artificial ceiling that would lead to blocking hopping….dont see it happening, but….

I think their slightly flawed thinking is that starting at frontierland will get more people to lineup for the parade in frontierland instead of main street which may work for the first few weeks rush of AP's, bloggers & live streamers but the effect of that will fade over time.

"Good on them" for "solving" a problem they created?? 😂
Well yes. They create many problems they don’t solve, so it is nice to see them actually recognize a problem and do something about it for once.

Not allowing APs into Magic Kingdom with no park reservations somewhere in the resort when the parade is brand new is a no brainer. It’s the same reason there’s no AP available for Epic Universe. It’s a standard crowd control measure, and yes in that instance, day tickets should get the preferential treatment because they don’t have near the access to the parks that an AP holder does.

It isn’t like this is some complex thing to navigate it. The reservation doesn’t even need to be to MK.

Almost seems like the "New" Disney is no longer interested in the long time supporters. Being an Annual Passholder, you are investing in Disney. But they are more focused on the one-off customers. Sad day in Disney history. Walt would not approve.
Why are you all acting like this is some massive hoop you have to jump through? This could not be any simpler. Just make a reservation for any park and then move to MK after 2 once you’ve scanned in. It isn’t even permanent.

They have done a lot of gutting to AP stuff and I get that. When it’s a deep cut, it’s worth being upset over. But this is nothing. It is the smallest possible deal.

I am certain that I saw SpectroMagic start in Frontierland for the 11pm at some point. I have documented evidence somewhere I’m sure.
YT has it, but I'd still call it rare......

Speaking of Direction, no matter where it Starts...I 'm not ready to join the "MK doesn't know how to run a Night Parade" Club!... ATM, I refuse to believe MK lost all knowledge from 1977-2016........

Now this is also a completely insane take. But rummaging through your post history, it’s evident you like to rage bait (and also apparently don’t like to read?) so I’m gonna leave it there.

I like to assume there is some dramatic issue in Donnie’s past involving AP holders. An origin story like Cruella’s mom and the Dalmatians. Perhaps as a child he was literal steps away from winning a big talent show, and the prize money that would have saved the family farm, and during the big finish he tripped over a broken AP lanyard carelessly tossed to the ground by an AP holder, who laughed in slow motion before continuing on to the gates of the Magic Kingdom. From then on he had to scratch out a living selling peanut butter sandwiches and Capri Suns to AP holders in the parking lot, and grew to hate them more each day.

By the looks of things he’s transferred his Covid alarmism mental anguish onto the “problem” of local APs

I think they’ll start both runs at different locations

I think they’ll foolishly start in Frontierland and switch direction by Labor Day. That direction only works with evening parades at parties since most people stay in the park after.

Get your photos of it coming down MSUSA while you can.

Genuine question… what is the issue with this route?

If you start at Frontierland, guests who want to leave the park afterwards will have to wait behind the parade as it crawls through MK.

If you start the parade at Main Street, as the parade moves north on MS, guests will fill in behind the parade as they line up for the fireworks after.

It Works for FOF too...

Party Parades didn't move to Splash till the 2000s l believe

Who really knows how MK determines Direction....

The problem with TBA Starts is you have the whole Parade Route(if Guests follow) landing at the Exits... When Parades start at City Hall, the exits are much nicer and fewer people.

Either way, the parades always block my way as I’m trying to get from one walk-on attraction to another, while everyone else stands there lining the parade route. 😆
