I don’t think Disney is really not confident to invest fully. But to have a company to operate and spend the development cost without Disney spending a penny sounds good for Disney though; Just receive licensing/royalties fee as passive income sound great for them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Disney's 2nd Quarter report dropped today. They are not in a cash crunch. They profited $3B.

In one quarter.
Rearview mirror stuff, from bookings long ago. 2024 business means nothing now. This is economics 101. My sources say that future bookings are down, some say by quite a bit. With all of the discounting going on (and it’s across the board) I kind of figured Disney would sell off some IP to ensure some positive cash flow, either that or secure another credit line.

Universal needs positive word-of-mouth from these previews.
They’re getting bucketloads of that.
My guess would be it’s actually the forward guidance. The stock has been suppressed from April 2nd. The forward guidance that Q3/4 isn’t currently soft took off those brakes.
The start to the year wasn’t what was wanted. It’s getting a bit better, but the near and medium term economy is throwing up red flags.

So why not let someone else pay and just take the money ?!

The theme parks in Dubai are always very empty. Their water parks however are VERY busy.
Big names like Disney and Six Flags will boost tourism for sure that's why they're getting built. I heard Sea World Abu Dhabi is getting a lot of foot traffic.

It's Motiongate Dubai that is in big trouble cause it's already not getting a lot of visitors. Ferrari World I think will do just fine.

How does one “wear” no pants?
The same way that you can hear no sounds, play no games, comment on no posts, eat no greens, have no idea, make no noise, do nothing, go nowhere, say nothing, wear nothing...

It's a valid expression. "<verb> no <noun>" is the same as "not <verb>ing any <noun>"

"not <verb>ing no <noun>" is unfortunately common but is a grammatical error.

India with a few billion people has a rising middle class. It’s less than a 4 hour flight to Abu Dhabi. Disney Abu Dhabi will attract the crowds. For us Americans some of us will never experience what it is like or experience another country since approx 1/2 of the USA population doesn’t even have a passport. Perhaps not see in person but many will view on social media courtesy of the YouTubers.

Jokes aside yesterday, I’ll probably check it out. I’ve never been to Abu Dhabi, but Dubai was a pretty cool trip and Emirates business class was the best flying experience I’ve ever had.
It’s on my bucket list too. If I can coordinate the annual Formula 1 Abu Dhabi race , Disneyland , Ferrari world, and other sights all occurring during the same time that would make a vacation at WDW seem tame. Dubai is a magical but very hot place to visit. My family loved the international cuisine especially eating at the Iranian restaurants. Kebab heaven next level.

Probably because no one thought TWDC would be stupid enough to get in bed with a medieval belief dictatorship regime. Now that the genie is out the bottle how much longer till Disney North Korea, Disney Rwanda, etc.
We are in bed with China dependent on them for millions of products and 75% of our meds annually. Their govt isn’t exactly squeaky clean either.
