News Coco Boat Ride Coming to Disney California Adventure

If Disney had an unlimited budget to fundamentally fix some of DCA's problems I would LOVE to bulldoze the pier in its entirety.

Hard to see the pier going away. It’s the most iconic part of DCA and unironically may be one of the most iconic spots in California.

I genuinely disagree with people asking for a drop on the Coco ride. The Coco ride will want to appeal to the broadest audience possible, especially little ones. They will have opened Tiana which gatekeeps a princess ride behind a drop. I remember being scared as heck of Pirates when I was a kid knowing there was a drop, whether that was rational or not. Yes, a drop could work thematically, but they don't want to ostracize anyone, especially little kids who are huge fans of Coco but scared of drops. Both the Avengers ride and the Avatar ride will be thrill rides, plus the Stark ride will be too. It's important to balance a park's portfolio of attractions. They are building this ride because it will appeal to the entire family, they don't want to scare anyone off. They already have a ride with a drop based on a family friendly Pixar IP in the park (Incredibles), and both of the other water rides in the park (Avatar and Grizzly) will have drops. I highly doubt they will want to make a Coco ride that has little kids crying when they leave because Coco is cute but the drop is scary.

We don't know that the Avatar ride will be a thrill ride do we? Shanghai PotC is 48 inches, DL PotC is 44 inches. They compared Coco directly to Pirates so a gentle drop and a similar height limit seem more than reasonable.

I believe Shanghai POTC has no height restriction. And yeah bring on the drops! This is coming from someone with a 4 year old daughter who just rode Timber Mountain log ride today and loved it.

Oh I’m well-aware that it’s a super hot take, especially since California is one of the best places on earth and has seemingly endless landmarks and icons. But the DCA Pier has an incredible amount of gravitas for its age.

I do maintain that Incredicoaster is the only true downgrade we’ve seen from Disney recently. I swear, it rode so much better as Screamin’.

Considering its one of the most instagrammed places on Earth, I don't think its that hot of a take but I can understand why people might think it is.

If only people had that much fun IN the land and the visuals IN the land were worth taking pictures of. But I guess having a land that looks good as a background is some achievement. Reminds me of the Beetlejuice immersive experience. Its a lot of instagram photo ops without a lot to do.

This is really a old man shaking fist at clouds moment, but you know that many in the newer generations only care about the best photo op they can share on Insta. They care less about what is happening around them or the experience itself.

Most of the experiences I pay for require phones to be in locked bags. I grew up too ugly to be obsessed with living through a lens.
