DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

Uni has no interest in removing their grip from Marvel at Florida. You can make a billion "rumor" news stories but the cold hard fact is that Universal has the upper hand for superheroes right now and it'd take Batman being available for licensing for them to release Marvel (and that's me guessing!).

I'm of the notion that EPCOT is the bigger target for Mahvel than DHS.

I don't expect Simps 100% either, but almost every IP under the sun I feel has been pitched for AC so who's counting?
out of curiousity, if you can answer: how much of the backstage space is in play for the “AC replacement”? Just launch bay? Launch bay and the garage? Even more areas next to the afformentioned two? Wondering about the hypothetical scale. Image attached to better illustrate it. Excuse the crudeness.

Depends on IP, scope, and budget.

I'm aware some buildings are absolute no-gos due to being needed for daily operations that can't be moved easily.
Yeah, about what I expected. My small hope is that they connect something RNRC plaza eventually (dead end, and that plaza does feel kinda weird anyway, hope muppets spruces it up.), but that building inbewteen could be one of those “daily use” buildings. I’m sure they’ve thrown everything at the wall, I hope what sticks is worthwhile.

I just feel weird about the state of DHS and it’s future.

For most MK is a full day park. For that poster MK is a half day park cause he doesn't ride a lot of the Fantasyland rides.

I've said it's actually the lack of quality Fantasyland rides which is half of the problem. Alice, Pinocchio, Mr. Toad, Matterhorn, Casey Jr, Storybookland, Snow White...all absent from MK's Fantasyland.

The park is also lacking modern E tickets with the exception of Tron. Star Tours, Rise, Indy/Dinosaur, even Mickey & Minnie all are located at other parks rather than MK.

I remember my friends who were locals in Florida and one was meet & greet Mickey, they were all so disappointed when SDMT opened. They were excited about MK finally getting a new ride that they might enjoy and it turned out to be a second Barnstormer with some decent rockwork around it. They were hungry, because most of the star attractions at MK were designed in the 60's and 70's rather than a blend of old and new like we see at the castle parks elsewhere.

Yes I do wish there were more dark rides

While I agree it was bad when it opened, when this photo was taken - they have improved it, and they spent money to do it. They at least acknowledged it looked bad from guest areas and tried to fix it.

Which is the point… they used to care a bit more.

Radiator Springs Racers - which is completely exposed from the back and that is very visible from outside the park.

Disney - stop exposing your backside!!! Literally and figuratively haha.

This was the view from my hotel on my last trip to Disneyland. The back of the Cars Land rockwork towered over the hotel.

I actually thought it was really cool though, and didn’t mind it at all.

Alpine Inn right? I’ve stayed there. My current go to is “Hotel Lulu” but I’ve stayed at most of the Anaheim Hotels at this point! Haha.

Yes, this has been pointed out already in this thread as very bad show in my opinion. Even if they just did some sort of flat 3-D painting it would be better.

Compare that to the 360 degree views you get of The Matterhorn. Sadly, new Disney loves letting the metal framework holding up their rockwork be seen from the parking areas. GE's spires, RSR's backside, Everest, Pandora....

I’d also mention, Matterhorn is themed from 360 degrees because it’s visible from 360 degrees inside the park itself. Is there any example of Disney (even in the 1950s and 60s) theming something with rockwork that is only visible from outside the park?

This was the Candy Cane Inn actually.

I thought it was the coolest thing though, it’s honestly part of the reason why I booked that hotel was to get that view

One of the few I haven’t stayed at! But walked past it many times. Haha.
I won’t get too off topic, but I loved it. Very quaint and charming, beautiful rooms and common areas, a free breakfast with tons of options, and they’re one of the only hotels that has a free trolley bus to the parks (although it’s almost as quick to just walk since it’s so close)

Interesting thread to drop this in... ;)

Here's the new thread for that discussion.

This is still the Monsters Inc Coaster thread. :p

I understand there are vast difference between the 2 lists. However, just rides, stage shows, and animatronic shows gives about a 40 min edge to DL.

Well done!

Also, seeing that “1” next to Tron made me chuckle.

The only small quibble is that I feel keeping the Monorail on there, when MK's is there just outside the gate, is a bit much. So it might be closer to a 25 minute edge.
