MK All-New Nighttime Parade Disney Starlight Set to Debut at Magic Kingdom in 2025

Light Magic has several things going against it, despite a pretty decent soundtrack.

  • It had to follow in the shadow of MSEP.
  • It wasn't really a parade. More of a dance show, that you needed to be in the right spot to enjoy.
  • The floats were all the same, they entered in the darkness sans any characters, and not much to see as they went by.
  • The fairy critters were creepy.
Starlight is following in the shadow of... no night parade at all, for quite some time. It's already ahead, despite its flaws.
Loved the Theme Song!

After 23 Years, then a Very Crowded DL MSEP Final Year..........Plus MK's Spectro and TDL's Fanti......What made DL make LM the way they did?????????

This is the special (I think) that was aired for its premiere. It was an interesting idea no doubt, very unique, but the final product was just not up to standards. Partly why I believe they really had hopes for this to be something was because the route went under extensive construction to make it all fit.

I think it’s more that it was taken begrudgingly, or at least that’s what it seems like many have implied. Leadership wanted it, but the parks didn’t really want to run it.

This attitude is baffling to me by MK Ops. This was literally a golden goose handed to them by senior executive management to not only increase attendance but revenue in the evenings as well and they were like "let's do this in the absolutely cheapest way possible and drag our feet about it the entire way."

I have not been impressed with Jeff Vahle or his running of WDW - it really makes me miss Kalogridis and how he ran the resort.

I don’t understand executives who want to cut corners - that’s not how any great people are remembered.

Galaxies Edge, Rivers of Light and now Starlight are severely lacking because of the cuts in live performers. Why? Make it make sense! Haha

It's very simple - short term gains mean short term profits and increased compensation in performance bonuses. Executives are no longer concerned with long-term stability - they are concerned with exceeding quarterly profit margin goals so that they can get x% over their base bonus compensation for "exceeding the expectations", etc.

So if you cut 10% of the budget of Starlight in regards to performers, etc. - who is actually going to know (besides the folks like us)? Yet, if that margin means profits were 1% higher that can be a large chunk of change in an executive bonus at the end of the quarter or year.

No Peter Pan tonight......
Yeah, I was at the parade Monday and noticed that. Also attempted to watch on Saturday but it was cancelled due to lightning. It was a nice but short show, especially with one float missing. Agree with every one else that more needs to be between floats. Overall we liked it though. We did snag a really good spot to watch from. We were at the corner before they turn towards Liberty Square.

The center of the castle hub is really good. Not super crowded for the 2nd showings and you can watch the parade come down the street towards you - the castle lights up and twinkles “wishes” style, and then the parade goes around and you so you can look behind you towards the castle and see the parade going by.

Naturally after the finale float passes you turn around and see it pass the castle - perfect kiss goodnight!

Its nice they added the Castle to the Intro and Outro, another throwback to Spectro! :) The Spotlights and Trees also look Great!

Unfortunately Starlight didn't make it tonight. I'm guessing Rain in the Area? MK didn't look terrible at Parade Times.......

I’m guessing it’s safe to say they won’t be doing any changes to Starlight other than Pan and Wendy flying at some point? Total speculation regardless of not so great feedback they will likely keep Starlight until at least the 60th.
