A few show notes here...

GwEidP0XcAArlE2

  • I appreciate that TDA President Du Jour is wearing a proper business suit, and Bob and Sidekick Tightpants have transitioned from their cheesy Dad Jeans N' Sneaks to wool gabardine trousers and dress shoes.
  • And not a carb in sight for either Bob or Sidekick Tightpants! That takes work, especially at their age.
  • Who is the lady on the right? Some new TDA Exec we've never heard of? A Burbank type? Bob's side hustle? Does Willow know? Is this like that CEO just caught on the Kiss Cam this past weekend with his HR Executive mistress?
  • Mickey and Minnie's 70th outfits are dreadful looking. They look like something a disco-addled person coked out of their mind in 1980 would dream up as what Mickey & Minnie will look like "in the future". Minnie's outfit is salvageable, but Mickey's outfit is truly dreadful. Nothing about it works. Ever. Anywhere. On no one. Especially a mouse.

Mickeys jacket is an abomination.

Anyway, now that we’ve gotten the 17th out of the way we can celebrate the real anniversary of Disneyland which is tomorrow July 18th. 😉

Cheers to Darkbeer! 🍻

WDW’s 50th, on the actual day, WAS crap.
A giant steaming pile of crap.

I was there, and it was extremely disappointing.
All that was done by the Company on the actual day was merch releases that caused fist fights, and a flimsy small poster given out as Guests exited the turnstiles.
🤨
No special event…no special announcements…no special entertainment offerings….no replaying of Roy’s speech……zipPAH.
It was like any other day at the Park, except for the massive crowds.
Oh, and the first fight in the Emporium over a 50th tumbler…
😑

I will say however that the 50th Guidemap for the day was nice.
But it was a somewhat depressing day to be a long term Park Fan that has been a part of the history of the place for the last 40 or so years.
Some kind of real acknowledgment should have been made….

But I digress….

Thank you Disneyland, for doing it RIGHT!
Here’s to the NEXT 70 years!

I had big plans for a trip to WDW sometime during the 50th. An impromptu trip had me in EPCOT on the anniversary day, and I too was disappointed with the lackluster response. I was expecting something...magical? It seemed like just another day, except Creations was crammed with people buying bag after bag of merch.

We snagged a VQ for Remy and started our day in France. Off to Morocco, and it was a dead zone, no performers or anyone else. The store in Japan didn't open until 1 PM. You'd think the park was going out of business.

I had a good time, but it wasn't what it should have been for the 50th. It took any interest in a full trip away.

I’m getting less and less confident that Disneyland park is gonna get a notable new attraction for their 75th anniversary. I think New Tomorrowland is definitely not an option for the 75th by this point.

Okay, but seriously, who was the lady at the 70th ceremony standing between Mr. Iger and Mickey Mouse?

I tried to Google Image her identity, but Google was stumped and could only offer me that her dress came from Saks 5th Avenue and was $754 (last season, ahem) and her shoes are Manolo Blahnik's and cost her $945 (last season, ahem). So it's a $1,700 outfit for Disneyland's 70th. I'd love to think her wristwatch is a genuine Cartier lady's Tank, to add about $12,000 to her July 17th tab.

Even if it was primarily last season, the lady nailed it.

But who is she? And why did she get placed between Bob and Mickey? I'd love for this to be a Kiss Cam sex scandal like what happened to that idiot HR Lady and her CEO in Boston, but I'm prepared to be disappointed. Anyone know who she is?

Sorry to disappoint, no scandal here, it’s just Lynn Martin President of the NYSE. Bob was ringing in the opening bell for the NYSE after all, so it makes sense for her to be there. Just boring old business stuff.

Oh! I had no idea. I assumed the bell was some 1955 callback to the horse drawn fire truck or something.

That's the NYSE bell? Well, that's clever then! Bravo to whomever thought that gimmick up. Sad I didn't see it reported in the news, but still.... very clever. 👏

Yeah...Minnie deserves better.

Oh....you're talking about Bob?

Ha! And wasn't that concert Kiss Cam scandal great? 🤣

I love a good workplace sex scandal, it's my favorite kind of scandal.

It was reported in the news, all over the place.
