The early hive mind mind of the internet seems to be having the same reaction.

No one cares.

The logo and poster have me puzzled with their low effort 1930/40s vibe. The result is just... amatuerish and not good. Also that quote on the bottom of the poster is downright horrendous.

I wonder how close they were to putting "See it in Technicolor!" on it.

It seems to be some misguided attempt to cross the Indiana jones genre with muppet babies

I know I tend to be “a tad harsh”…but is it possible to get a collection of clowns together in Hollywood with less understanding of the appeals of Star Wars than LFL has managed to employ for like 25 years?

Like it’s rocket science or something?

I didn't think much of the trailer, but admittedly when that logo came across I snickered a bit. That seems so weird. I'm kind of lost at the vibe they are going for on that.
The show is deeply tied to OT nostalgia…which is why it hit. Nothing they’ve done that doesn’t show reverence to it has had enough legs to get the viewer to the bathroom after the credits rolled with any memory of what they watched…

…so this is kinda like the opposite…it appears?

As if someone…maybe a lot of someone’s…are mad and have hurt feelings because they aren’t scoring lemming driven Star Wars hits with just the label slapped on…whatever?

That’s a very ego drive, obtuse Hollywood reaction if so…

And welcome to the modern Walt Disney company

Just asking the question, but if it’s been 25+ years and no one has gotten it right (not even George himself), is it just possible that maybe just maybe as the saying goes “you can’t go home again”. That nothing anyone will ever put out will ever be good enough?

I ask because there was praise for Mando when it came out and how Favreau and Filoni “got it”. Now it’s “the clowns don’t get it”. So is this more about the fans egos and them not being stroked in the “feels” rather than an issue with those making it?

Vibe is the type of old movie serials the franchise was inspired by
The series was driven by the yoda reveal in the first episode and Luke Skywalker from the Reagan years carving up a ship full of robots…

But people are free to form their opinions/believe whatever they want.

This is the thing they can’t grasp: no fans care about the “writers motives” on any of this stuff…they care about their reactions in the moment and whether it sticks to their ribs.

Star Wars. Here Endeth the lesson (again)
