DHS Disney plans to reboot Voyage of the Little Mermaid stage show at Disney's Hollywood Studios

So, they *do* have plastic fish glued to a wall!!!
Voyage of the Little Mermaid was able to run every 25 minutes before it closed. The new show has to be 40 minutes apart because of all the new tech that simply takes longer to reset between performances. So unfortunately less showtimes and therefore less capacity per day.

I have directed a few musicals now where my leads can get through a show without a single bum note. Some people can just do it. I don’t know why that’s so difficult to believe.
Sometimes, the body wants to burp and you can't do anything about it.

I recently saw this show. Thought it was fine. Not an upgrade from the OG. But only a SLIGHT downgrade.

Other than the embarrassingly bad animation - what was a downgrade?
Probably the over-reliance of it. Though I am curious to know.
I still say animation-wise they should nix Triton and sisters. Their designs are over the uncanny valley but still ugly as heck. I think the story would work just as well without them. Or rework it so the mermaid sisters are in silhouette with an actual actor for Triton.

I agree the animation with the sisters and Triton is terrible. Like conspicuously bad and out of place and noticeable to even casual viewers. An update to that would make a huge difference in the show.
Personally I would say the show overall is even with the old one or maybe a very slight downgrade.
The tech/projections and even the story/song upgrades are well appreciated and overdue. It just makes the show seem more modern and fresh, and a little less like an old puppet show. Its entertaining.
But the lack of any water effects, such as the fog and the rain curtain is really a shame. That and the fact that there are fewer puppeteer roles.

I was wondering who had taken over for Pat Carroll voice for Ursula since she had passed? Whomever it is thier voice doesn't sound too bad but, it's off a little bit and not much of her amazing laugh she did when she use to play her.

Not having been at the park since it debuted... is this a case of trying to make LLMP look more valuable at DHS than it actually is?

No inside information on this one but I would guess making LLMP more valuable. Marie
I saw the show twice on my last trip, and the queue filled up thirty minutes before the next show.

Yes, i saw the show a couple of times in July and they do fill the theatre.
The frozen sing along has Lightning Lane and was never full.
(Don’t judge…. I have to see the citizens of Hollywood any way I can! Haha)

Sounds like this is actually an OK use of a LL vs something like Philharmagic, Monsters Inc, First time in forever, BATB, or Nemo.
Not a top priority, but does add value.
