I’m flying tonight from Miami to YVR and I acknowledge it’s Easter… but the seat map looks like early COVID.

80%+ empty plane. I’ve been here for a few weeks and the drop off is shocking.

I’m intrigued to hear the operators start reporting their quarterlies. Comcast on the 24th and Royal on the 29th are two to look out for.

Remember the speech in which any alleged Florida travel boycott was mocked, based on 2024 travel numbers?

What's he gonna do with his net worth down 20%, too?

Plus, Perlmutter sold all his shares. No vindictive sugar daddy this time.

Plus, you're assuming he's a man of his word and doesn't just say thing to stroke his own ego.
They’re both in their 80s

At the end of the day…they had an axe to grind…they created a stunt…they got their jollies and moved on.

I do remember reading that when Disneyland opened in 1955, Mr. and Mrs. Knott from Knotts Berry Farm attended the opening and were pretty worried about Disneyland siphoning off their attendance, but they said when they returned to Knotts Berry farm, it was packed and they never looked back. I think it does work that Epic Universe could end up being a small bump for Disney’s attendance, as well.

Citing the older additions is weak.

But his point is pretty spot on. Some visitors may remove a day from WDW to visit Universal for an extra day.

But in general, this is going to increase tourism to Orlando and that will end up benefitting WDW.

It's a good thing for us; it forces Disney to respond to the new world with continued capital improvements.

Interesting that he clarified tourist as "new":

"I can almost guarantee you that that new tourist coming into the market is going to have to visit the Magic Kingdom. They’re not going to miss Star Wars at Hollywood Studios. They’re absolutely getting on Guardians of the Galaxy in EPCOT"

Citing Pandora and Galaxy's Edge, lands that opened 8 and 6 years ago, respectively, as the company's response to Epic is so transparently pathetic it's not even funny.

So he’s lauding stuff that took 5 years to build, opened 5 years ago, and mostly under delivers in key areas?
He's the Aaron Boone of theme parks.
"You can't get rid of me. Remember that cool thing I did once way back when?"

History will reflect on “Iger’s Disney Decades of Destruction”
During his tenure he going to have expanded Disney's footprint by creating HK DL and Shanghi Disney, opening properties in the most populous area of the world, and now announcing a third in the richest area of the world.

On top of bringing expanding Disney by bringing in minor IP like, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars, and starting the steaming market. Year i am sure he has to be worried about his legacy.

Anyone actually read this nametag nonsense and give it any rope?
Reading his comments leads me to one conclusion, he just eliminated himself from being the next CEO. That is for any well run corp, so since this is Disney I guess he still has hope.
