You've nailed the main concern I have with the pending Indy ride. I'm hoping I'm wrong but I'm ready to see a few densely populated scenes surrounded by foliage and screens in between them. Oh, and leaving most of DINOSAUR's sets and just repainting them to vaguely fit a new setting. Seems to be Disney's MO when retheming attractions these days.

Have you ever seen dinosaur with the lights on. You basically just described most of the current ride. Dinosaur barely has “sets” to begin with. It’s almost entirely empty rooms and foliage with the occasional animatronic, prop, or screen.

I think my biggest issue with the Indiana Jones ride is the same issue I have with Splash, Frozen at Epcot and Guardians at DCA. The physical ride and experience remains the same - for half the budget - they could seriously plus the experience and end up with something truly great. But they spend all the money and resources on tearing down and rebuilding and we get something “eh” as a result

yeah, I get the negative comparison of Tiana's to Splash of feeling empty (at least at parts) but there is very little to Dinosaur.

That doesn't mean Indy will be amazing or even better but they would almost have to take it as a challenge to have less content than the current ride

It wasn't garbage to the masses nor was it strictly an advertisement to any cruise line, it had a consortium of backing, it was more or less a advertisement for the Norwegian Tourist Board, but your entitled to your opinion of hating it.

At least Dinosaur has animatronics. Disney doesn't do animatronic-heavy attractions anymore, we're probably gonna wind up with one or two Indiana Jones animatronics that do nothing but stand there flailing their arms, maybe an animatronic of the mythological creature he'll be facing off against, and that's it.

Maybe, but the lack of AAs is made up for by the incredible practical effects - REAL fire/pyrotechnics, an entire moving room, the blasts of air along the ride, etc. Rides don't necessarily need a huge amount of AAs to be world-class. How many AAs does Flight of Passage have? Toy Story Mania? The new Donkey Kong coaster at USJ/EU?

They'll throw a strobe light on him to simulate your brain exploding.
