I’m trying to think of what the last big not solely DVC resort was to get an idea of what level of effort will be

Aulani.

But that also needs to function as a full fledged stand alone sans parks. Then really Animal Kingdom, but I think the 90’s over the top effort is currently in remission.

Just to contrast against some of the stand alone DVC of those days, that I think is generally weaker. Like Saratoga or Bay Lake Tower.

Gran Destino Tower is the last one. albeit not a resort in its own right.

All cash rooms there, including club level, but externally it doesn’t look like there was a lot of thought about theming.

Pop century and Art of Animation both came after Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Disney can build fast when they really want to!

I don't know, all these pictures the cranes are sleeping, the excavators are silent and not a soul not even a security person is stirring. Maybe they only hired nocturnals for this job

Random thought but I wonder if Disney knows there is a very nice neighborhood just a few miles away from this project that is called Lakeshore. I was talking to someone the other day that mentioned this to me so I had to look it up. Maybe they can rename this hotel again to something else.

Last official update from Disney was November 2024. The hotel is set to open in 2027

Technically, now with LL, they could say that about new attractions...... I know, I know it doesn't work that way.. Disney will drag their feet on attractions.....

The parks are already profitable. So getting a project done fast isn't as urgent.

But, perhaps, as you say, the ability to add ILLs will change that.
