I think the association with be the same with the The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort, so yes - legacy non-Direct DVC owners will not be able to book there.

Except Wilderness Lodge did it first. And then it was copied by Great Wolf Lodge. It's not like they should just keep putting lodge after everything. Even Animal Kingdom Lodge is an uncreative name.

Don't most of the resorts have relatively uncreative names? Poly, Boardwalk, Contemporary, Riviera, Wilderness - they're all pretty straightforward. Only a few achieve more - Grand Floridian, Pop Century, All Stars (funny enough) are a bit more creative.

Also, there are only so many synonyms for "resort" or "lodge". Being straightforward about what the thing is isn't a problem.

I’m not in the market for DVC, but I do like resort hopping, so personally I have no issue with them building like crazy.

DVC is funded separately from the parks, and even without paying a cent, it gives you more to do at WDW. It’s in a good area, so immediate to explore it.

This is true. Though (excluding All Stars) I would argue that all of those names downplay the creativity and scale of the resort. Whereas, in these newer cases, they either match or even oversell the level of theme, detail, etc. If Lakeside Lodge has the scale and imagination of Poly, Boardwalk, Wilderness, AKL, etc. (Riviera intentionally excluded), I'll be just fine with the name. I just have my severe doubts of that...

Lakeside Lodge being a faithful recreation of an upscale Camden Lakeside apartment building on a lake in Central Florida just doesn't do it for me in the theme dept.

Current legacy owners can use their points anywhere.

I think you mean current restricted owners can’t use their points at Riviera.

But yes, same as Riviera and the Cabins at FW.

Closer. But many legacy owners bought resale but can still use their points due to being grand-fathered in.

Thank you. So, for all we know, the hotel could look completely different to Reflections and its just using the same plot of land. This isn't a Art of Animation thing where vertical construction had begun so Disney had to incorporate already built buildings

Permits and ongoing construction show that the layout and structure of the building is identical of that of Reflections. The brief description in todays announcement also appears to perfectly match what was planned previously.

I know what you mean...maybe it's just that it's right next door to another Lodge. Call it what it is - Lakeshore Tower. At least Wilderness Lodge looks like a lodge!
