So many options, yeesh. Definitely going to stick with low risk as this is just to have a bit of fun with each race while we're there. We will be there for the second half of the day so will see about 5-6 races including the derby at 7p.

Gotta pick the horses with the best names ya know?

So like, do people bet multiple exactas in hopes one hits? With so many options, im curious what the 'strategy' is across the board. Do people bet shows, places, exactas, and winners all at the same time or do they tend to do just one type of bet?

My grandpa did all the crazy combos. I just bet “big” on the favorites. Meaning one bet on which horse would win. Lol I also used to go with the names I liked sometimes too.

Indy looks great right now. I went on it twice yesterday- it was louder then I remember (though it's been 6 months since I had been on it so that could just be me not remembering).

All the figures worked, the boulder worked, projections were bright and crisp. Smoke machine was working for the lava pit. Fire effects were working.

Eye on the Globe is great, though now it has subtitles which was weird but still way better then the Covid era preshow.

Still missing a bunch of the randomized audio. Still no moving doors. The pole in the queue is still missing.

Mansion also looks good. I far prefer the new bride/beating heart attic to Constance. Do I think it could be improved upon? Yes- but this is a step in the right direction for sure. The new digital hitchhiking ghost projection effect was well implemented and wouldn't bother me if they hadn't replaced a 60's era effect with it. I didn't get to walk through the extended queue- I went on it during Star Wars Nite so we just walked right up the front steps. So no opinion on that yet except for still not liking the astroturf out front.

Would you really need to re-record anyone aside from Jose, assuming you weren't just doing a whole new script? Since British, French, and Germans aren't races per say, I'm not sure if anyone would have a problem with them being voiced by white Americans. Like, I haven't seen anyone complain that they should replace Mike Myers as Shrek with an actual Scottish actor.

Probably just Jose. That’s the first/only thing that came to mind. White people impersonating people of color is frowned upon pretty much across the board these days.

I rode HM last Sunday for the second time since they added the new ghost bride and I upgraded her to a slight improvement over Constance. Not sure if they have adjusted her or my expectations are now set properly but I didn’t dislike it as much as the first time. You just couldn’t help being disappointed when she was first unveiled considering how much potential that scene had but she’s better than Constance even if only for not making us suffer through that audio and not having a pillow face. All they really had to do was give us an updated version of the 80s/ 90s bride.

The hitchhiking ghost effect has improved. I’m not seeing the cut off like I did when videos first came out. Still a downgrade from the effect when they were physical figures but acceptable. “Acceptable” “Fine” and “not awful” - the new bar we strive for! Lol

Yeah, that seems to be the case.

Hopefully they would get a good Mexican voice actor who could sound close to Wally Boag instead of just tossing the role over to a celebrity. It'd be really jarring having, say, George Lopez as Jose...

Hopefully they just leave it alone and stop being ridiculous.

Until we get an answer to this question, it’s tough to assess the wisdom of what OLC is doing.

Also, I haven’t been to TDL, but maybe their Jungle Cruise and Tiki Room are just tired and need to be replaced? Maybe there isn’t the affection for them in Japan that fans have here. Their treehouse is already shuttered. I’m just saying, this might not be purely a cynical business decision.

Edit: I just learned Incredibles is part of this Adventureland renovation. LOL.
Their Tiki Room is in immaculate shape (as is everything there) but nonetheless felt a bit tired and definitely underutilized when I've been (twice, two separate visits); the current show also just isn't it and even Stitch being present doesn't seem to do much to bolster its popularity out there.

Jungle Cruise is no less popular there than here. If I had to guess, it's that they really only have two options if they want to redo Adventureland there: either they gut Pirates and the mini-NOS they have, OR gut Jungle Cruise. The land's set-up doesn't really make large scale expansion conducive in any other way.

Pirates has always seemed definitively less popular there than elsewhere, but getting rid of Jungle Cruise offers a larger and more straightfoward plot of land to work with, in addition to offering labor savings that eliminating Pirates would not.

That's my best guess for the direction they're choosing.

The fact that we don’t have one coaster at neither GE or Avengers Campus at DLR is wild.
I know you're a big roller coaster person, but is that really that wild? I understand that for the "content" of the land it might make sense to have a coaster (so can understand the position) but a land in a Disney Park without a coaster doesn't seem wild to me.

It is wild when you consider their portfolio of IP, potential/ announced projects and limited expansion pads. It would seem to me that for a resort that hasn’t gotten a themed E ticket coaster in over 45 years that that Marvel or Star Wars would have been opportunity.

I’d say I’m more of a big Disney roller coaster person. I haven’t been to Magic Mountain (20 minutes away from me) in about 12 years. I was at USH yesterday looking at the FnF coaster they re building and I’m not even sure I’ll end up riding it. The fact that the cars drift on top of it may make it a No Go for me. But I’ll probably try it at least once.

We've had this discussion before, and overall I'd agree when talking about DLR in general, but as I've said before I'm personally not looking for that extra thrill factor which requires a "coaster". So it doesn't really seem "wild" to me for there not to be one in either land.

We know there was one rumored for AC originally but they scrapped it for capacity reasons. So I think Disney has things they want to accomplish in terms of ride profiles that a coaster doesn't always meet. Hopefully DLF (for either Park) has a couple for you so you get your Disney Coaster fix in the future. :)

I hadn't thought about it before, but it has been nearly 25 years since Disneyland had a new roller coaster in either park and that is odd compared to WDW which has opened 4 since 2014.

We do know at once point a coaster was considered for Avengers, but that was many years ago.

Also the ever persistent rumor that Tron will be added somewhere.

I don’t think Tron is coming to DLR. Seems like it’s not in the cards.
