Today we are exactly 188 days until our bi-annual family vacation to DW! I am the planner for the entire family (11 total only 9 are going this time), which means I am in charge of rooms and ADRs. My brothers and their families have left all decision making to me and I am completely fine with it...or was until I started second guessing 2 decisions. Please let me know what you think we are traveling with a picky 10 year old and a not picky at all 6 year old. Also what are the times that I can book online and on the phone? Thanks in advance for your help

Sanna (my niece's choice)
Liberty Tree (none of us have eaten here and am a little worried by the Thanksgiving style describtion)
O'hana (daughter's choice)
Via Napoli (never eaten here. I've seen a lot of good things about the pizza but what about the other dishes)
50's prime time (my nephew's choice)

We would like to do dinner at everything except Liberty Tree because of the parade.

Thanks again!

While Liberty Tree should be reopened from its refurbishment by the time of your vacation, know that you won't be able to make an ADR for it yet. ADRs won't open until closer to its completion date in November.

The menu at Liberty Tree is different for lunch and dinner. Dinner is the family style Thanksgiving food feast; lunch has entrees of burgers, pot roast, salad and pasta but includes a turkey feast option. Also, the amazing Ooey Gooey Cake dessert is only offered at lunch.

Thank you so much for that heads up. I'm not sure I will want to risk waiting for a reservation that close to travel time. Would you happen to have another favorite sit down at MK?

We like The Plaza. Good food, something for everyone and wonderful shakes and sundaes! It is a great value if you are not on the dining plan as prices are very reasonable. If you are on dining plan, you may want to save the TS credit (perhaps for a signature meal) and pay out of pocket.

BOG is also a favorite for lunch.

Did you do the plaza for dinner or lunch? We gave up on BOG since everyone says its nearly impossible to get.

We have done the Plaza for both lunch and dinner. Menu is the same.

Here is a tip for scoring BOG lunch. When your dates open, try for one of the day's toward the end of your trip, not the beginning. If you see nothing available for a party of 9, break your party into one of 4 and one of 5. Or, break it into two parties of 4 and one party of 1. (For some reason there are always tables for party of 1.) You will be looking to snag overlapping times for each party (or times within 15 minutes of each other.) Splitting up will require two or three different reservations secured by credit card. If you end up with a split party, show up together and tell them you are dining together. Tables are not assigned at lunch, you pick your own.

Would we be crazy to take a break from the park and ride over to Wilderness Lodge for Whispering Canyon?
No, that's a fantastic idea. I'd do it myself. Canyon Skillet FTW. I'd eat as late in the lunch window as possible. Pay lunch prices but fill yourself for dinner.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Via Napoli is best for pizza as that's what is their specialty. If you want good pasta/other Italian dishes Mama Melrose's or Tutto Italia (if needing Epcot restaurant) is better. We always go to Via Napoli every trip for pizza and go to Mama Melrose (since menu change in 2013 they are re markedly better) for pasta dishes. :)

Liberty Tree is one of my favorites! Great food, and a ton of it. If you do decide to try it out, just a heads up: I've been trying to book since our ADR window opened on June 5th and haven't had luck yet. The refurbishment, I guess. Hoping the reservations open up again soon!!!! :D

It's doubtful that they will open up ADRs until much closer to the finish line. They don't want the situation of lots of people having ADRs that all of a sudden have to be cancelled because the restaurant isn't ready yet. Until they are absolutely positive of an opening date, they will hold back on the ADRs. It may be open by the time you get there, it may not, since it isn't due until late November.

Thought so. Any ideas what's going on with Raglan Road? I even called for that one and the CM told me she wasn't seeing any availability during my week there in December. Hmm.

My husband just reminded me that if we leave on 12/28 from Magic Kingdom for lunch at Whispering canyon that there is a chance we can't get back in. Do you think that's a huge concern?

Call the restaurant directly. Being a restaurant not run by Disney they only allow so many reservations through Disney's booking system. If you call Raglan Road yourself you should have no problem getting a reservation. :)

Yes very possible being that week between Christmas to New Years often fills to capacity at MK most days. I would stay in the park to eat. :)
