Yes, there is. The process even has a name, it's called a soft opening.
Not in practice because, when it breaks during soft opening people raise the same issues you do now. Yes technically soft openings are a testing phase but hardly anyone pays attention to that fact. They want their new ride to work period.

Ok I'm shocked. I've run across two terms I've never seen before and in the same thread!

HRRR?
Smiler?

Holywood Rip Ride Rockit. The coaster at Uni Orlando chosen by Blackstone (pre Comcast) and built by Mauer that had a lot of problems in its first year or two of operations.

The Smiler - worlds first 14 inversion coaster by Gerstlauer at Alton Towers in the UK. Opened last year and had a lot of problems during its first season.

Thanks I should have guessed the first one! Was there when it opened and experienced the issues first hand. Rode it once and only once - wasn't a fan.

It's new.
It happens.
Gringotts at Uni failed during the press preview. Lol.

Of course rides breakdown. You can Google 'Harry Potter ride breakdowns', or any other ride for that matter. You'll inevitably find variations of:

"Even though my favorite theme parks are USF and IOA, Forbidden Journey did not stand out to me. Also Harry Potter is one of my favorite books and movies, but this ride has not been perfected yet. They have to fix it because the ride breaks down too much. The que is the best part of the ride. DON'T RIDE! 1/10 - Jaiden Cohen"

New rides and new ride systems all have shakedown periods to go through.

'You can please some of the people some of the time...' :)

I just left Magic Kingdom after riding 7DMT for the first time and everything was working, cottage scene and all. Overall it was pretty fun and I think it's a great addition to Fantasyland. It could've been E Ticket great if it was longer and had at least one more indoor scene but I digress. I really liked being able to rock the mine cart and the swaying on the turns, you could definitely feel it. The Dwarfs look fantastic IMO.

A lot of people might not what an E-TICKET is but it's good to know that you enjoyed the ride. Hope most of the kinks are worked out by November. Looking forward to our stay. I still have a complete book of tickets.

I didn't mean an E Ticket as in more thrilling. Just that it could've used another indoor show scene (as was originally planned) to make it better and longer.

Many people are writing that it is"not working by looking at the MDE app. I was there June 7-15, the major reason it was closed was weather. It rained almost every day we were there. They closed the ride and we were the next fast pass to enter. The CM told us it was due to lightening. They were tracking another storm that was 10 minutes behind the one that just finished and we were told the operators wanted to wait for the second storm to pass. They did keep it closed longer than the other rides after the storm. Safety first...I'm fine with that.
