Are those notes seriously in Comic Sans? Excuse me while I go grab a Mission Space bag...

Graphic designer. Can't help it. Otherwise, I'm impressed by what I'm seeing...

I understand. I went to school for 4 1/2 years for interior design/color major and it kinda chaffs me when someone goes "who cares what color it is" or "why are they painting it like that"... I get it. :inlove:

At this point I just want to see what the inside of the mine looks like. I'm gonna try to reserve judgment until we see what they look like.

Please note the use of the word "try" in that last sentence.

dopey plan-- in the margin says that there is a sfx projector part of this vignette, for the eye effects

Great catch. Lends credence to the idea that there will be projection effects/mapping for this AAs. Having the Dopey have "multiple eyes in the gem" would be a logical use of such tech since it is a somewhat iconic image from the movie.

Never really read the notes on the side before. I see they also talk about specific sound effects for the other figures.

Graphic design is one those fields that really makes me question whether quality will out. I see so much bad graphic design because somebody without any sense for design was able to spit it out with a computer.

Just like all design, it's a double edged sword.

And since computers (and apps) have made "art" so much easier lately, there's more and more "I'm a graphic designer" types out there. And, for that matter, interior designers. People read a book (or, magazine article) about color schemes and theory and then they're suddenly "color specialists".

I guess I'm just bitter because I have a crapload of student loans to show that I've studied both subjects and it, really, means close to nothing at this point in the technology game.

That's the sad truth about college. Never the less. It doesn't mean anything. Times change people want bigger, better bolder things, and simply put. That goes to technology. Every two years more micro processors are added to CPU's and chips. It is just things that happen.

Not true. A good education in the field will ALWAYS overpower the person who just happens to have a copy of Adobe Creative Suite...

I've been in the industry for 20 years (currently I am a Creative Director), went to college and learned hand paste-up design work for print, and I am now working in digital advertising. It's about having a keen design sense, and not relying upon the technology to get things right.

If only more actually did read books. Instead, they just follow Instagram and become experts.

Which is why I prefer the old Disney films - beautifully hand drawn with great stories. Not that I don't like Monsters, Inc. or Wall-E, but my favorite scene is and always will be the Sorcerer's Apprentice in Fantasia. Walt and his Nine Old Men were THE BEST (sorry Lasseter, computers don't always make one an artist).
