I just found out that the statues are now gone as they are going on tour. They were supposed to be at WDW until the end of April, but they are leaving early. I was hopping to see the statues on our trip in early April. I am a little disappointed. :( We will now have to make sure we see them when they come to Minneapolis. Anyone know the reason why they are leaving early?

I just read today that the reason they are leaving early is becaues they got a "special invitation to appear somewhere else".....apparently this place was not on the original schedule. Don't know where this "special" place is, but that is why they are leaving WDW early.....too bad too because I wanted to show them to my family in March.

Does Micheal E need to beware of falling Mickeys? That would make an interesting episode of CSI, no doubt! Oops, wrong network.

Somehow this story reminds me of stolen yard gnomes. You know, the owner comes out of his house to get the paper and there is an empty spot in his rock garden where the little painted concrete gnome used to be . . . A few weeks later, the guy gets a letter with a photo of his gnome with the Statue of Liberty in the background (letter says "having a great time") . . . a month later another letter and photo of little gnome, this time in front of the Eiffel Tower, and so forth.

netanyahoo, I am also disappointed that the Yard Mickeys won't be in place when I get down there in April. We are the guy who comes out to see his gnome only to find it has gone on tour! What do you think are the chances there will be an army of Donald statues in their place?

You know that could have been a pretty good web-based marketing idea.

They are already going to Philly as part of the tour. Why go there early just for the shareholders meeting for a couple days?

I'm not sure that anybody knows for sure what the "special appearance" the Mickey's will make (well, obviously somebody does...but you know what I mean ;) ).

I've actually heard two possibilities thrown out there to where they might show up...the shareholder meeting in Philly is one of them (and probably a likely choice), the other is they will make some type of appearance at the Oscar Ceremony being held this Sunday. Since the Oscar's will be on ABC, this is also a likely possibility....it will allow for some major media coverage...afterall, the Oscars are generally the second most watched television program all year (after the Super Bowl).

The Oscars theory is pretty cool but wouldn't the other studios get "mad" about such obvious advertising?

Hi all: I'm a reporter with the Orlando Sentinel, the local daily newspaper near Walt Disney World, doing a story about the statues dissapearing.

I'd wanted to talk with people who were hoping to see the statues during their vacation, and were surprised to hear they were leaving early.

If you'd like to chat, please call my cell at 321-438-4612. Or email me at smussenden@orlandosentinel.com

Found this guy's article.
No mention of WDWmagic.
I guess no one contacted him.

I just think it is pretty rotten to move all the statues at the last minute to the stockholders meeting. Why not send like half of them or something and keep the rest at WDW. That way people could still see some of them at least.
