How many days do you plan on going to the parks? If you plan on going 5 - 7 days then why not stay at the cheaper hotel? I usually stay at Pop Century.. Why? Because I just need a place to sleep and shower....

It really does depend on each persons budget. For me on my upcoming trip, we are driving which saves us money. We are also packing a lot of our own food and eating that way, rather than eating at restaurants constantly, so we're saving there. So we are staying at a moderate. If we were flying, or had more ADR's we may need the extra money so might stay at a value.

I have to say that I don't mind the quality of the values, especially Pop. And I like the pool. However I find that the walls are a bit thin, and I am such a light sleeper. Even if all I do is sleep at my resort & spend all my time in the parks, if I can't sleep, I'm exhausted all day. So I prefer the mods if the budget is there. :)

I have benn to three mods, CBR, POR,PORFQ, Been to POP. big difference in theming, privacy, food. Go for the mod, the hardest one to sleep in is POFQ, smallest beds on Disney property.

For that length of time, and only a $300 difference, I'd definitely bump it up to moderate. IMO the Values tend to get cramped after a few days. But that is just me. I keep saying the older I get, the pickier I become about my hotel choices. :o I'm also finding that I prefer to spend more on experience and less on actual "things" ... so I don't see myself spending $300 on souvenirs. But I think I am probably in the minority with that.

I have to agree with what many have already stated, it's a matter of what you want out of your dollar. If what you are looking for is just bed then by all means save the money and go with the Value Resort, Pop Century has my vote. If you are looking to spend a little more time relaxing at your resort then go for the Moderate. I emphasize relaxing because I could easily spend a week at a Value even if I was not spending a lot of time away from the resort but there is something about the Value Resorts that seems to have a lot of energy about them. Maybe it's the volume of guest per square foot or the theming but when ever I am there I just can't seem to sit still. The Moderates on the other hand seem to have a more laid back atmosphere. I have no regard for time at all when I am at a Moderate. If I could afford a Deluxe I would probably never leave the resort.

Usually it is almost 2x as expensive. That is a pretty fine rate. It does all depend on the kind of time you spend there. Would it be worth the cost of 2-4 really nice sit down meals to you? If so, why not? If not, why upgrade?
