I'm only 5'8 - but I have a severe paranoia when it comes to Space Mountain. I usually don't even ride it anymore. The problem is that I crouch, naturally, because I feel like the beams are low. Then when I get off, I have a stiff neck for hours. Better that I just avoid it. :o
Or get over it...

There is absolutely no possibility of you hitting anything and being injured on SM. Your phobia is causing you to miss out on a great ride.

Unless you're genuinely scared of coasters and are just using the imagined proximity of the beams as an excuse... :lookaroun

The fear is part of the fun on a coaster, that's why they're called thrill rides [and SM is extremely tame as a thrill ride]. If you don't enjoy being thrilled, that's fine, don't ride, but don't over-react. If you have [or ever do have] kids, this sort of reaction from a parent can create irrational fears in kids that they have serious problems with later in life.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I think the fact that it SEEMS like you might lose a hand or your head or whatever is just part of the planned fun! However, those cars do suck to ride in! A lot of Disney rides, like Splash Mountain, are cramped for people taller than 6'!
