Do you have a list of participating hotels?

Interesting. What is the transportation like with these hotels? Swan/Dolphin has the boat and busses, of course. So that still has the edge for best "non-Disney" hotel
Not great.

Last time I really looked into it one bus line serviced about half the resorts and a second one serviced the other...basically a 4-5 stop route similar to Coronado or Caribbean beach with the distance between stops increased by a factor of 3-4.

Sounds like Disney Transportation, the Magical Express (and the service level, which is always up for debate), Package Delivery, Full Magicband functionality are the remaining benefits that differentiate Disney property hotel versus the others

Correct. I'm not sure I can post the story here but EMH are part of the new benefits
Why would WD decide to go this way? How do they benefit from this? I would think they would see a reduction in booking on property from this. Not everyone drinks the magic bubble Kool-Aid... I do but I have a problem.

The hotels would be paying Disney for the service. Disney must feel it will have minimal effect on their resorts.

Rental car is the best option for all of these properties, but you will pay a nightly parking fee for those hotels.

If you don't want to pay the parking fees, then taking Uber (or the cab of your choice) will be your second best option by a country mile.

One exception may be the Hilton next to Disney Springs. You can walk across the street to the Disney buses.

With reduction in room inventory due to CBR/CSR and possibly other construction, some guests could be having difficulty booking their trips onsite, so they are heading offsite anyway. I believe Disney believes that adding FP+ and EMH to these Good Neighbor resorts (and I believe you must book your trip via the WDTC, not the hotel directly to get these benefits) - Disney will see a financial and attendance benefit.

I've gone back and forth on this one, but from a TA perspective, its good in that new clients/guests can have an option off property when On-On-Property Resorts sell-out and still get the benefits they were seeking. With all the Room renovations and the new lands coming in the next 2 years, Disney probably feels that this is a smart move.

I'll be happier when I see the Good Neighbor pricing via WDTC vs through the hotel direct. Swan/Dolphin is always less expensive when booking directly with the hotel than booking via WDTC.

Is there a reason only these ones are getting it? Why not the Clarion Inn lake Buena Vista (was planning on staying there on my next trip) even though it's also a good neighbor hotel?

Edit: i wonder how they'll verify if I have the right to earlier FP+ if I stay on one of these but bought my tickets through disney and not the hotel

Where you buy your tickets from has never mattered, even when staying onsite at Disney. It's having the proper resort reservation that qualifies you for 60-day FP+
