So as a cast member of TDS I have accumulated 6 park hoppers but cant use them. I am going in August for 7 days but they told me that every one in our party has to be on the same package. Is there a way around this?

Dont be in the pacakage. Pay for your dining out of pocket.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but to my knowledge everyone in your party has to be on the same DINING plan, but not ticket plan.

You can go to Disney for 7 days and if you are on the Dining Plan you have to have the plan for all 7 days, but you can just get 1 day of tickets to the park if you want.

Unless they make everyone in your party buy the same "# of day(s)" ticket(s).

But that would make no sense. What about the spouse who wants to golf one day and not go to the parks? Or the grandparent who intends to rest or explore Orlando one day instead of the parks? Surely Disney has taken into account the idea that not every person in a room or group wants to enter the parks the same # of days?

Everyone has to have the same # of days of tickets as well. The dining plan goes off of how many nights you are staying not how many days of tickets you have purchased. Therefore, even if you are staying 7 nights and want the 7 dyas of dining, you only need to purchase a 1 day ticket to make it a package.

As I suggested earlier, they can purchase the package with just a 1 day ticket for everyone. That way they get their dining that they want. Once they get there, the tickets can be upgraded to the number of days they need and the OP doesn't need to upgrade.

You got 2 good descriptions of the same BEST idea ... buy the package with 1-day tickets for everyone, and then at any time after check-in you have everyone else upgrade their tickets.

Once check-in is accomplished, the package reservation is, in Disney-speak, "exploded," and at any time after that point any individual can do with his/her own ticket anything he/she pleases ... one person can add the park hopper option, one person can add 3 days, one person can add 5 days, and so on.

AND, doing the upgrade in this way will cost exactly the same as if you made the package reservation that way. The only way upgrading can EVER cost more is if there is a ticket price increase between the time the package is booked and the time the upgrade is made.

Might I add, if you're with a group of people that like the option of going their own way - with some members more inclined to get some days of relaxation in, whilst others want to hit the parks from dawn to dusk, or some people needing to economize with base-only tickets whilst someone else wants to park hop and hit water parks and maybe even Disneyquest - this is an excellent way to allow each member to tailor their passes to their needs.
