6 in a room?

I know you are only suppossed to have 4 people in a room, but some friends of mine (ages 19-20) want to plan a trip for the end of summer. To minimize costs they are trying to squeeze 6 people in a value room. I told them they wouldn't fit and could get caught, but they say they do not care about comfort. Could they get caught and is there actually enough room for them? I think the rooms are small with 2 people in them.

Personally, I cannot imagine any more than 2 adults and 2 kids in one of the rooms. There's not a lot of closet space nor drawers, only one sink, etc.

The reason for the four person limit is the fire code. I imagine Disney keeps a pretty good eye out for violations.

They have 8 weeks to come up with about an additional $100 each (assuming they're going for a week) If they give up about one coffee or soft drink a day, that should cover it!

The value rooms are small. And, yes, the cleaning people do keep their eye out for violations and report them. If caught they will have to either get a room for themselves at full rack rate or leave the property. Not sure what they might do to the people who let them into their room though.

I agree with everyone. It is way too crowded, even with 4 adults. They are double beds, not queen beds and those things are small! There wouldn't even be enough floor space for the other 2 ppl plus luggage.

It is a much better idea to get another bedroom or try out the new All-Star Music Suites. If you are going after August 27 it would be Value Season. The suites would be $169 a night and they sleep 6 people comfortably.

If you decide to get 2 seperate rooms during value season, that would $79 a night per room= $158. A little cheaper than the suite but the suite does have a kitchenette.

Check out this link for more information on the suites and for pictures. They look pretty cool to me.

I told them about the suites, and they said they might have to do that instead. But they wanted me to ask that if they clean up everyday before they leave for the parks and not bring a lot of luggage/keep some in the car would they get away with it? Their main concern is getting caught, not being comfortable.

If they already know they won't be comfortable (and they won't), I offer this info:

My parents, bro sis and I always stay at ASM. We have an airmattress...there's no room, everyone's tripping over eachother, but my sister is little and my bro and dad take no time in the bathroom. I can't imagine six fitting. At all. With five of us, it's a tight squeeze. To save money, I suggest a room at a moderate that will accomodate five. Port Orleans used to do...dont' know if they do anymore.

As a fam of five, we never got caught. They just assumed that my brother and I didn't want to sleep in the same bed, hence the air mattress. But calling and asking for two extra towels a day might tip them off, unless they all keep track of their six identical white towels every day. To get six people to shower and get to the parks by a decent hour...it was hard for five of us to do it, and again, Dad and bro take no time at all.

BTW, the only reason we did it is because we were NEVER in the rooms except to sleep. On park days, we were gone from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and on off days, we laid by the pool and went to DTD. We never came back during the day...therefor, my parents felt it was okay. I know some people feel differently, but this is how we do it. If there was only five, I'd say go ahead, but six is going to be awful. Tell them good luck on finding something!!

Mousekeeping is highly trained to look out for clues that more then 4 people are staying in a room, and you WILL get caught. Why spend your vacation worrying, get two rooms, and sleep three each, you'll be much happier.

Agreed.

Save money by getting a DDE card, refilling water bottles, room discounts, etc.

You will be very upset when you get back to your room, your key doesn't work and you are forced to leave or pay rack rate for the extra room. It will end up costing much more in the long run if and when you get caught.

You would probably be caught, which would not be good at all.

I think 6 people would be WAY too crowded in a value room. I really think even 4 is almost pushing it. On a recent trip, we did invite a few friends to step into our room for a few minutes. There were five of us in the room (briefly). Even with everyone just standing around talking, I thought it seemed quite crowded in the room.

Six people sleeping in one of those rooms--well, you'll be tripping over each other. There is also not much sink area, to use while getting ready and washing up.

On this upcoming trip, it will be myself and two other people in one room...

I'm still trying to figure out what kind of air mattress to get, and I know it'll e a tight squeeze.

6 people?? Wow...umm...is it worth getting kicked out?

Coleman Camping Air mattresses availiable at Walmart, they are guarenteed not to leak air overnight, a major problem. They also come with a great little pump that doesn't take long to fill the mattress. I use one many times a year and really enjoy the comfort, plus not waking up to a 1/2 empty mattress!

6 per room is just too much.

I would never recommend staying 6 to a room, just for the sake of sanity.

But if they are worried about getting caught, (i.e. mousekeeping during the day), couldn't they just put the "Do not disturb" sign on their door?

Again, I am not recommending this:wave: But, it's just a thought.:D

We stayed four in a room (all women) at All Star Music, and it worked out fine. But when we went as two adults and four kids of various ages, we stayed in one of the campers at Fort Wilderness. (This was about 12 years ago.) It was cheaper than two rooms, had a kitchen, etc., and we never had to worry about the shame of being kicked out of DisneyWorld.

I agree about using the "Do Not Disturb" sign. Does everyone really think that mousekeeping is out to catch people doing things wrong, etc.?

Yes. That is part of their job.

Exceeding the amount of people allowed in a room is wrong and potentially dangerous. Fire codes are made for a reason. Everyone will be much happier (despite how much everyone says they dont care about comfort...believe me, after a day in the parks, all you want is comfort) in two rooms or a family suite.

I think it's a stupid idea.
:lookaroun

While I am always hesitant to call anything stupid, I have to agree....this does sound like a stupid idea. I don't think the six of you realize just how "uncomfortable" you will be. Try downright miserable! I think THREE is too many in a value. They are just too small.

I wouldn't worry about the number of towels used tipping them off. My DD (17 y.o.) and I use quite a few towels and they never question us when we ask for twice what they put in a room. Now, I believe they probably "watch" to see just how many people are using those towels, but we have never been questioned.

Get two adjoining rooms or a suite. I think you would certainly regret trying to squeeze six in one room.

By trying to pack 6 into a room you won't be able to use the EMH as that only applies to those booked into a room either. Of course:
1. It's dishonest
2. It would be PACKED
