5th Gate

I dont actually think a 5th gate is going to happen, i was just seeing what others thought.

Nah, it's good to speculate. Just seems to be a hot button around these parts.

I think the real fifth gate will be Islands of Adventure. Or Legoland. ;)

If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em out.

If Disney were to create a 5th gate, what should be the theme of it? I personally think they have three really good options, and obvioulsy the land. My first pick would be a park themed on the United States, based on hisory/regions of the States, second I would pick Disney Sea or a variation of, and finally 3rd i would suggest a park based on just history in general (ex: ancient greece, eygpt, china, current america, dark age Europe, etc.) What would you like to see from a 5th gate?

I fancy myself a history buff, but come on, a history themed park based on the history of regions and states? Really? Think about it for a minute...... Anything? As a Mississippian, born and raised, I am going to have to veto that idea. You will either have to put slavery and Jim Crow in there, and be honest, nothing says good old fashioned family fun like a lynching....... Or you ignore it. And what happens then? Southerners hate two things above all else. Being reminded how horrible/backwards our history is and..... Liberals. They will have a $hit fit if you go the history route without obtaining a pound of flesh. At which point we make issue with northern protests against busing. You seeing the issues.

Second, is it me or has Disney basically said, in the u.s., Sea World, have fun.... I don't see that.

That said, my vote is for a villain based Dark Kingdom. The Halloween's would be epic.

I don't think wdw should get a 5th gate yet… the should get expansions to DHS and ak and update Epcot and give MK the WRE ride. But I think Disneyland should get the marvel 3rd gate and I have always wanted the disney America park to happen in Virginia, so I'm gonna say that

Parks like Dollywood and Stone Mountain Park (where the Second Ku Klux Klan was founded and located beneath a giant carving of Confederate heroes) seem to do just fine. They're not attached to a name as big as Disney, but they're still rather well known parks.

see what I mean. Who knew dollywood had a Klan connection. Whether it is a true connection or just connected by its southern ties, I don't know. But, I for one will join all my northern brethren in boycotting all things with ties to the Klan or evil in general. Goodbye Dollywood, adios Indiana, till we meet again IBM, nice knowing u apple, what coulda been Switzerland. See, not a good idea for the history themed gate. Negative connotations abound. Second vote for dark kingdom

First, its Stone Mountain Park, not Dollywood, that is connected to the Klan. Second, you sound ridiculous swearing off history due to the darkness of the past while desiring a park that celebrates villains, who tend to not be complex an ambiguous figures in Disney storytelling.

My fifth gate wouldn't be anything already rumoured or built in other countries.

It would be a theme park based on adventure.

Adventure, exploration, mythical lands, time travel, and daring.

You could potentially include Up, Jules Verne, HG Wells, pirates, trains, all modes of transportation, and heck even JTTCOTE.

The various organizing principles of such a theme are numerous.

Seriously, WDI, give me a call. lol

I agree with adventure. I'd love to see something on famous franchises/literature similar to IoA. With Disney's theme park acquisitions: Carsland, Marvel, Star Wars, Monstropolis, Pandora, Muppet Studios

Why are people complaining so much about Disney world failing? Seriously! A 5 park would be cool but corporate is stupid and doesn't want to spend another 10% of revenue on Disney parks around the world. Was test track really needed to get a refurbish? A fifth park would be to expensive and would probably cause traffic. I heard about the monorail expanision rumors and that's just what they are it's to expensive to add not to the system and would cause traffic. Disney does not like big spending projects and does not like to build things that it deems not needed. People from all around the world continue coming to disneyworld and will continue coming to Disney world even if it's the last thing they do in life. So Americans are fed up. I have family who can't wait and visit Disney for the first time. By the way has anyone heard of the stupid plans to build million dollar homes in Disney world. Who's really going to buy them. That's just one of the wasteful spending projects that might as well have fired somebody.

I am too lazy to read all the other posts, sorry, so if this is a rehash, sorry again.

My idea for a 5th gate is actually something that has four major things going for it, and one strike against it.

My idea is for a Lost Kingdom, or Yesterday Kingdom. This park would be home to yesterday's favorite rides that are no longer active attractions ( I am looking at you 20,000). It could be divided into lands representing MK, EP, and DHS (correct me if I am wrong, but an AK land would be pretty thin). You could even have a small island that could be the site of the Adventurers Club which is only open in the evening and to adults.

Things going for it
- Nostalgia
- The R&D should be pretty cheap because, well, "been there done that"
- Additional rides could always be added as we cycle thru them at other parks.
- And maybe the biggest thing -would the park not be forced to close due to overcrowding when Stitches Great Escape moves in. We will all be soooooo happy that it is leaving MK that we will want to be there so we can tell our grandkids that we were there when MK was saved.......

Major Strike against
- Well, they damn things were removed for a reason.

This is the biggest reason Disney can't create this type of Park. Most of the time these attractions are shuttered with the reason being low attendance or high cost or a combination of both.

Another problem with the Yesterland park idea is that the whole concept operates under the notion that attractions are somehow wholly separate entities. A great attraction with its land and park. The old Future World attractions won't have the impact outside of a Future World that carries the same spirit in its very being.

It also ignores that what replaced these attractions is often considered inferior. People will let attractions rest if the replace is at least as good, if not better.

What about a park based on a 365 day year and it's events.

You walk around a set out path starting at Jan 1st and ending at Dec 31st. The date will be marked on the side of the footpath. Once you enter through New Years Avenue, you begin your path and encounter different yearly festivities such as:

-Cupid's Valentine Cloud
Imagine is Venice was up in the clouds. That is what this romantic land is themed to look like. Float away on gondolas, enter the tunnel of love or experience thrills in Heartbreak Hotel.

-April Fools Way
A pun fillied land, themed to look like a cartoon version of classic sitcoms such as Friends. Everywhere you walk you find yourself laughing! Enjoy the House of Mouse comedy club and watch your favorite characters try out stand up!

-Easter Hills
Green hills, Clear streams, blue skies. This indoor experience takes to Easter Island where you can take a once in a life time tour inside the Easter Bunny's Egg Factory.

-Halloweentown
A land themed to Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas (minus the Christmas part). Enter Halloween town and explore the places and meet the people you know from the movie. The main attraction being Jack's Fright Flight, a tatsu like coaster.

-Thanksgiving
I have no idea what thanksgiving is or what it's about so I'll leave this one up to you to design ;)

-The North Pole
Snow covered street, houses with cheerful architecture and bright colours, the smell of gingerbread in the air. This land is designed to make everyone happy! Journey to the top of Christmas Mountain then hop into a sleigh and head back down!

So that's my idea, please no stealing! (I will find you)

I love the concept, there should be a Prep and Landing attraction where Santa and The Elves need your help this Christmas to deliver presents so you board your "sleigh" and go on an adventure to deliver the presents using either a KUKA or Spiderman technology

I've never seen Prep and Landing so I can't really comment, but instead of using two technologies that Uni started, Disney should introduce something new.

Neither is a technology specific to Universal and not every attraction needs a brand new ride system. Oceaning is the company behind the ride system for The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, Transformers: The Ride 3D and Curse of DarKastle. KUKA developed the system in use at Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey and it was publicly available before Universal secured a limited-time exclusivity deal. Disney used the stationary KUKA ride system for Sum of All Thrills.

Yes I know Uni don't own it, and I never said every ride needs a new system. I just thought It would be cool if this one did. I don't like the idea of Disney doing a Spider-Man like ride because then Uni fans will never shut up about it -.-
