If you want good fried chicken, you need to go to Hoop-de-doo. It's the best fried chicken I've had in years . . .almost as good as grandma used to make.

also trails end (as i believe they share a kitchen with HDD) and art smith's homecomin' for fried chicken. :)

I've had it hit or miss with food and experience as well. Our last time the food was fine, but our server did none of the fun stuff and we were left alone a lot. I haven't rushed to go back because of it.

We've enjoyed many meals at 50's Prime Time since the park opened, and have never been disappointed by the food. After all of these years, the pot roast and meatloaf have always been our top choices. Sometimes, our server might not be totally into the role, but we never had a complaint about the service.

I do miss one of the desserts they used to offer, though. Has anyone else enjoyed the hot rod sundae? The base was a car formed from chocolate, with vanilla ice cream, topped by whipped cream, Mickey-shaped confetti sprinkles and a cherry. It was certainly designed for a serious chocolate lover. LOL LOL

We ate there on our last trip. I had pot roast and Hubby had meatloaf. Both were great. We gave our server our email and they sent us the recipes per request. They were flavorful and plentiful. We did notice the fried chicken another table received and it really looked dry.

We ate there in Sept 2016 and it was wonderful. The food was so good that it was my family's top choice for one we had to redo this past Sept 2017. We were really excited about going back. Big disappointment this time. The food wasn't terrible but it was a big difference from the previous year. It just wasn't nearly as good. Pot Roast was fatty. Chicken wasn't as crisp outside. Sides were just meh. The portion size was about 1/2 of what we had to previous year. I think every member of our family got the clean plate sticker and that included even a 10 year old ordering as a Disney adult off the adult menu. Another disappointment was that in 2016 on the dining plan kids were allow the milkshake as a drink...they went there in 2017 armed with their milkshake choice figuring they would again have that option on the dining plan...but it was not included this year. The adults could...kids couldn't. In 2016 we left suggesting it to all our friends....I have not recommended it at all this year. Next year it won't make our list. We will give it a couple years at least till we retry it.

Frankly...it's never been particularly good. The place is overcrowded and the schtick gets old.

I'll basically only go to brown derby and the occasional sci fi to sit inside.

It would be nice to get a new restaurant in MGM...it has been 30 years now...

We ate there twice in our October/November trip and plan to again in January. We had excellent "cousins" both times and our food was good (even better than our previous trip). I had chicken pot pie and boyfriend had the fried chicken (we shared each others a bit). We were excited the side was corn and not the green beans (we prefer southern-style green beans and Disney's definitely aren't.) It may just depend on the time of day, cooks, how busy the restaurant is, etc...for the food quality and we've just gotten lucky.

We've eaten there 3x and have never been impressed with the food quality. We repeated it because it's a fun meal, but after our most recent trip, we've decided we're tired of paying for "experience meals" where the food quality seems to be a secondary concern.
