There is more astroturf at WDW now, And it's easy to find with a thermal camera just look for 'hot grass' 'real' grass is about 10 deg cooler than ambient, Astroturf is hotter than ambient My cellphone happens to have a thermal camera as for the phone it's a CAT Phone S60. most of the time I use it to find overheated equipment but it has other uses as well,

But you can find this stuff with the cheap thermal cameras which plug into the phone's lightning or USB ports.
Lol. You don't need a thermal camera. It's pretty easy to spot with your own eyes. Yes there is more in WDW but it's certainly not all over the place as you seem to be implying. And as I already stated there is none in the hub outside of the two small plaza garden areas. It's used in a couple of high traffic resort locations, a few playgrounds and that's about it. Don't exaggerate this like you do everything else.

And you wouldn't know it until you get right on top of it, bend down and literally lay on top of it. I welcome the new "park" areas with the astroturf. I just wish they had shade. And benches (though they built some into the concrete walls, a trend I'm seeing used more).

Oh lord, By then that would make the 07 Version the longest running version of Spaceship Earth yet. That's just sad.

What would be far more sad is Spaceship Earth closing.

Plus, while it may become the longest-running version, it isn't and won't be too too old. The descent activity needs a few updates, but I don't think the ride is very dated content-wise. The biggest issue, in my opinion, is that most scenes feel somewhat static compared to those of newer rides. I like that style, but in general, young audiences don't find it as engaging.

By the way, anyone know if Siemens renewed?

The removal of the tombstones would greatly enhance the new acrylic prisms when they return them to the fountain :)
As much as I love the original EPCOT Center. I think bringing back the prisms instead of trying something completely new would not be wise.

I still want to see a Color transition on Spaceship Earth like they do with Cindy's Castle and usage of a projection system on it as well including the WS Pavilions during Illuminations or if they take it to a different show all together...

I don't know why they stopped doing that but if I had to guess they must have thought it would have detracted from the wand and they were simply too lazy to change it back when the wand was removed.

It hit when watching Martins part 2 tribute yesterday that the script literally makes the ride. The entire first half of the ride could not be touched (and largely haven't) and the script and music changes the ride. Look at the Jeremy Irons narration and how it inspired yet causes to want more. We were drawn in to the ride and wanted to go higher and deeper. Now you almost feel stupid and find yourself bored or not paying attention. I don't think it is Dame Judy Dench that is to blame but the script writer. She could have narrated a great ride. The decent is absolutely pathetic at this point and is clear that the budget ran out.

Or...you know...you could just give an example...

That seems easier than googling "cell phone with thermal camera" and claiming you own the first one that pops up.

How? We've all called them tombstones for years and years now. That's what they look like. Sorry if does offend anyone but it shouldn't. They are a memorial of sorts. And, unfortunately, I'm sure some people have passed who are on it.
We're on them and I'm not offended. It's nice to look at our picture, but in about 12 years ours are due to expire anyway. I wouldn't mind an expedited removal to get back to this...

Unfortunately, their version of "Something New" was nothing plus some added rock texture... The Tombstones can move to the walkway from the bus loop to the entrance where everyone can still view them without blocking the main entry court.
I would love to see something epic and new to match the scale of the Sphere and courtyard, but I don't trust that they know how to design that way anymore...So I will continue to hope for the return of the Prisms...Which were beautiful.

I am saying that we should have something new for the future. I am not defending how it looks currently. Incidentally, there was supposed to be an AA Sage of Time for the Millenium Celebration where the prisms were but for some reason that never happened.

I would agree with you but am afraid of the current management's ability to do something fitting for this spot... Let's not forget Project Kaleidoscope...How horrible and wrong that looks!

If we are to believe Martin, That unfortunate episode will be fixed soon but I agree with your apprehension.
