5 to a room question

I have my trip booked for September. On my reservation I have two adults and two children (2 & 5). Well I recently changed the reservation to include a 13yo (my niece who we offered to take for a week). We are staying in Pop Century (which only allows 4 to a room).

Are we going to have a problem with the five of us?

You shouldn't because one of your kids is under 3 and can sleep in a crib (and stays, eats & plays for free).

Tigsmom is correct (as usual). You will be fine as one member of your party is under the age of 3 and can sleep in a pack and play crib...which Disney will provide for free. You will just need to ask for it when you arrive.

I booked this trip some time ago. And at the time I did I wasn't really thinking. It turns out that before our trip by daughter will turn 3. I am now afraid that if I alert Disney we wont be able to get a room.

Getting two rooms would not be OK.

I will do some more research on upgrading our room to a different resort (if anyone has a good idea of which resort), but not looking forward to the additional cost.

This was so stupid of me to invite my niece. Instead of costing me little, it may end up costing me a lot.

Quite honestly if you are only a month or two out it should not be a huge issue. If you do decide to change resorts your best option is PORS. They have rooms with a trundle bed that will sleep 5. Next to that you would be looking at a value suite, a deluxe resort or one of the cabins at Ft Wilderness.

If you wanted more space I would look into Port Orleans Riverside, then your 3 year old could sleep un the trundle bed that pulls out from under one of the double beds in the room. This will give you a bit more room than having a crib set up in the room at all times because you only need to pull it out for bedtime.

However, as others have stated, if your daughter is barely 3 and you need to budget your money then i don't think it would be a problem to stay in a value resort. Just check the price difference and see what will suit your family best.

I think taking your neice is a great idea, if she's able to babysit one night maybe you can even have a romantic dinner out without the kids ;)

You will be fine with 3 kids. I know someone who goes at least once a year to Pop with their three elementary school aged kids. They have plenty of room. Of course they are only in their room to brush their teeth, shower and sleep. No one has ever said anything to them either.

Have a great time! :)

Exactly. If you're planning on living in your room, it might be a little cramped. If you will see your room for all of 30 minutes before you fall asleep and 30 minutes after you wake up--who cares?

If you're truly worried about it, there may be some open Family Suites open at the ASMu. POR is also a good option for a party of 5, as already mentioned. What about inviting your niece's parent(s) to come? Then you could split the cost of 2 rooms.

you should be fine. my family once stayed with a 12yo, a 7yo and a 4yo and we were perfectly fine with my parents in one bed and us kids in another.

However now this doesn't work for us anymore. Last year when we went as a 16yo, 11yo, and 8yo, we had to take turn sleeping in the pull out bed(which barely fit in the room) so now we need to get 2 rooms.

it should be fine though unless the kids are crazy sleepers and need lots of room

It doesn't hurt to call a Reservation Specialist and tell them your situation. You can always play it off like "I'm thinking about bringing my neice with me. Can we all fit in the room I have reserved?" I'm sure they will be happy to answer your questons. They can give you quick price options for moving up to PORS or a suite at ASM too. Maybe you could get your brother/sister to cover the cost of upgrading the room.

Don't forget to include her in the Dining Plan, and any other reservations you might have (like Advance Dining Reservations) too.

Nope, no rules being broken by the OP. "Legal" occupancy for Pop is 4 people plus one child under 3. Since once of the kids is two, they're fine.

Yes, but the OP also mentioned that the 2 year old would be turning 3 before the trip occurred. Thus, the occupancy would become 5 instead of 4 plus an infant.
