Well - today was underwhelming. Nothing grand seems to have been announced.

Oh - DME got a rocky start. Average lag time between arrival and baggage? 5 hours..

what do you mean by lag time between arrival and baggage?

I assume he means that, instead of the bags arriving at the same time or before the passenger arrival, bags were taking five hours to after arrival to show up. So much for the bags beating you to the room as they have suggested would happen, LOL.

You were disappointed because you believed a rumor. No one to blame but yourself. As far as "press events" go, it was good.

Nope, wasn't believing a rumor, though i find putting words in my mouth a bit rude...

I was hoping to hear about the sub ride at DL or something - so far, all the steam for the event has been exhausted on today, how does Disney drag this out for 18 months?

Then where did you get the idea that something that you hadn't heard about would be announced today?

How do they "drag it out"? Answer is they don't. Publicity for the opening is now, then they do commercials and such. Thats it.

Having sat through an educational lecture about how "if it's popular well extend the celebration!" and seeing i'm already "over it" and not the only one - I feel Disney could of approached this entire event much better.

Many people here overhyped it, thinking they would announce huge things...but these were just false rumors. If people weren't getting overexcited about Beastlie Kingdomme, Indiana Jones or some other things, the event may not have seemed so 'underwhelming.'

It just started, so of course there is going to be some confusion and mixups. This has never been done before, so I suggest letting Disney work out the bugs first.

I guess I'll give it a few weeks..

This is May - and despite all Disney hoopla, people don't often make trips in May.

But, as it stood in the last few days - Soarin' said "30mins" and was posted on the main Epcot tipboard as such when in reality is was 10mins or less.

"small world" which Disney insists in part of thsi celebration was 5mins.

I don't know anyone who has gotten turned away from a showing of LMAX when there was a show.

Pretty much everyone finds Cinderellabration to be not so grand.

I've smooshed through crowds of wall to wall people and stood in enormous lines for past celebrations - there are certainly things that people enjoy, but overall it seems to lacka wow factor. Maybe that is distinctly because this is DL's celebration and not WDW's.

Disney has said this event will increase bookings by 60% durings it duration - I just don't see that happening. Disney has also said this event will be special because it will launch new things in phases and new projects will be marketed in planned sequence as well - so, no rumor listening here, I only pay attention to what comes straight from the mouth.

At least the bags got there, that was my big concern with the new system. So now I'll just pack for a day's journey around DTD after the flight gets in on the 17th

1) I'd give it a while...remember when Pop Century opened? There were many mess ups in the begining. Remember when Disneyland opened?

2) May (& June) are not peak seasons. Starting July, crowds will once again get monstrous and sometimes unbearable.

3) Epcot uses white magnetic cards randomly given to riders to monitor the size of the line. Most likely the person with the card didn't get to the front yet, or it's been a while since they gave out a card.

So much for phases. Everything opened today except for Expedition: Everest and Space Mountain (Disneyland).

I would have thought that we would have been given some idea of a plan for the future. I wasn't expecting a big announcement, just something. The "What's Next" in the title of the event suggests that the future will be discussed. Thusfar, it hasn't. Maybe the event at Disney's Animal Kingdom tomorrow will be the bearer of good news. As of 11pm 05/05/05, the most exciting part of my day was completing my final day of high school.

They're called FLIK cards and while used, they can be over-ridden by anyone managing an attraction. They're used at several locations throughout all WDW parks, but not at all Epcot attractions. Line-bumping/pumping is reportedly used to allow queues to close at night - examples being Space Mountain and Test Track.

I'm not really disapointed...we got Soarin', refurbished IASW, and Lucky plus EE is on it's way. I guess I'm satisfied

Soarin' is definitely a welcome addition, as will be Expediton: Everest. Lucky is only temporary. I was just hoping to get an idea of what lurks beyond Everest!

the whole day was a media event. a pretty bad media event. it seemed Disney was a little out of character, it didn't garner that much airtime. I'm wondering how many people are going to visit the MK for the first time this year and not realize the castle has been transformed. I honestly don't care, they'll still be happy. but once again, the parks haven't been given their due.

60% increase in bookings, wow. They don't even have enough rooms for a 60% increase for the year. Like to see where you read that one. Please provide a link so I can see its coming from the horses mouth. If I see that link, then I'll think Disney was idiotic for saying that. Until then.........

By the way, where did you read bags would be to the hotel before you got there? The only way I could see that happening is if they delay you at the airport for 45 minutes. So if you find that link I'd like to see that one as well. If they are going to offer this, without delaying you, I might pass on limo service and use Disney next Jan. Still makes me wonder how the bags can get off the plane, sorted, put on the correct bus/truck, taken to the resort, sorted again, delivered to room faster than me walking off plane, getting on bus, arriving at resort. That will be interesting. Currently when switching resorts they don't guarentee your luggage until 4:00 PM(give or take an hour) at your new resort.

Two announcements for DCA occured today. Turtle Talk at Animation building opening in July, Monsters Inc opening next Jan. Pictures were included of both with press releases. Expect Nemo to be announce July 17th.

let's wait and see what happens on July 17th. if Eisner's a MAN, he'll gather children around him at the Disneyland plaque and recite Walt's words. and then give them the rope drop. it'll never happen.

yep my brother got one of those when we were in line for test track. the card said that it was an operation used to measure the ride times to help them put up approximate ride waits. we were to give it to the cm who loaded us in our car
