4 Walt Disney World Resorts to accept dogs

is it just me or are 20 pages of this people complaining because they can't stay in a resort because there MAY be dogs who have stayed in their room previously?

Did I miss a press release that didn't include that these are only a select number of rooms and floors, so it is not like you can't say "Hey I am allergic to dogs, please give me a room away from the dogs".. it is very clear in all the releases so far that it will be select rooms/floors and buildings.. I am all for helping people who have severe allergies, but per everything I have seen Disney is taking those allergies seriously enough to make it only a select number of rooms. Also people in that area of the hotel, who are dog people enough to travel with their dogs, are usually a little more forgiving for a single yip or "let me out" bark than it sounds like the general population would be.

As a responsible Dog owner, who does leave the house for work everyday we DO leave our dogs at home everyday for about 8 hours, but would LOVE to bring our dogs with us to the resort! 50$ per day is far cheaper than the boarding we have available in our area, and allows us to be with our pets every night of the vacation...

I generally have to cap how long my vacations are if we board them because my Dog loving wife misses our fur children if we are gone more than 7 or 8 days so she'd rather 3 week long trips per year, than 2 week and a half or more trips per year. At least we have had a place to bring them and stay previously at my parents house in Winter Garden(a real blessing for us previously), but now we can stay on property so Disney will certainly be getting more of our money going forward. Now if only Shades of Green were to allow it so when we travel with my in laws it would be even more affordable.

At Universal/Loews, people are probably leaving their dogs unattended in the rooms while they go to the parks for a few hours. Put up the Do Not Disturb Sign, go out for a bit, hope for the best. If there are complaints, yes then the hotel can pull out the policy and tell you to get a petsitter or a kennel or leave or whatever. Definitely better than the 7-hour rule Disney has concocted.

It's about time Disney caught up with the times! Universal has allowed pets for years with no problems. If you don't want to encounter dogs, stay at a different resort! Goodness knows that there are plenty of resorts at WDW to choose from! One more comment - I would think that anyone who loves their pet enough to pay extra money to bring them on vacation, you can be sure that their pet is loved, pampered and well taken care of enough not to leave their "presents" or would allow them to be upset enough to bark continuously.

You would think that...but that's not always the case. I've known people who I've told to their faces that they shouldn't have pets.

This is not OK. There should be separate hotel buildings for dog people. I love dogs like the rest of the world, but they make me sick as do cats (allergies). I do not see how I can guarantee a room without a previous pet. It is another hassle that Disney has created. My goodness, rent a house, stay in a camper, but dogs are going to deficate in the hotels and we will be exposed to it. Its just not right.

It's not just you. A lot of comments on here boil down to: "I'm paying good money for X and I don't want Y messing up my Disney vacation." Folks forget (or refuse to acknowledge) that at any given time, there are tens of thousands of other people having their Disney vacations, all spending money and all wanting different things.

Disney marketing is so good at selling us on the picture-perfect, hassle-free, magical vacation, and at building up the anticipation for it, that we can really lose perspective. Any little inconvenience feels like a disaster, a complete failure on the part of the company. After all, we were promised a magical time! I think that's why so many people go into hysterics at every change: if you've had a great time before, any potential change feels threatening, especially if you have a trip coming up soon. The whole system is set up to make guests super-excited, but along with that comes a supersized fear of disappointment.
