4 Walt Disney World Resorts to accept dogs

Oh if you only knew what was done in some of the rooms you were a guest in. Fleas are the least of your worries.
It's been mentioned before but throw up, poo, urine, sex and all facts of life that you knowingly knew is a possibility from the prior tenets, why does the thought of a dog being in there before bother you? Fleas?

When you really think about it, the whole idea of a hotel room is just gross. How many people have shared the same mattress over a three to five year period?

Tell that to the kids trying to take a nap with a barking dog in the room below them, the people who need an inhaler just being around animals like dogs or the dog that gets out in a strange busy place and ends up dead.

We always get the picture of the dogs as if we are suddenly supposed to be ok with it, People like you directly impact the health of other people and dismiss it as if we mean nothing. Sorry to be harsh, but this attitude has already lead to ER visits for asthma in my house and dozens of uses of emergency inhalers.

Most of the dogs pictured in this thread have been hypoallergenic breeds. Coincidentally, the breeds who travel the most are typically one of the hypoallergenic ones. For many logistical reasons.

Of course there will be all different breeds at hotels.. but plenty of them will not cause allergies.

You literally just brush over the concerns as if they don't matter. Ive been at hotels that allow dogs and its always the same thing. You can clean all you want, but its not going to help. You show an astonishing lack of concern for other people who have legitimate health issues and then try to pawn it off as the same as smoking, which is banned in every park and hotel already. Its great you love your dog, Im happy you love it, but its not the same as any of the things you listed. Ive been in rooms with service dogs before us and had to be move because its like somebody stepping on your lungs when you get in there.

As for kids getting out or cryng if you left your three year old in the room all day and went to the Parks, I guarantee law enforcement would be waiting for you.

I can assure you that for someone who has asthma and needs an inhaler being around someone smoking is a very legitimate health issue. Smoking is also not banned at every park and hotel. There are designated areas for smoking at both. What you do in those instances is you avoid those areas as best you can.

The obsession with treating a pet as if they were a child. Disney is just a business making money, but the attitude that everybody else should love somebody's pet is just nonsense and people who own pets and take them to public places tend to also be fairly unaware of what damage they are doing to others.

Sorry to be mean, but try having something like a peanut allergy and then have a somebody slather peanut butter on the floor and tell you "not to worry...peanut butter makes them happy" while you are in a corner literally fighting to breath. That's what being stuck on a plane, in a hotel room or other area is like to people with severe pet allergies.

How many times have you been on a plane with a dog who caused an allergic reaction?
Once? Twice? 3+?

Yes that's true BUT Disney's policy does not state hypoallergnic dogs only, As for cats we have a couple norwegian forest cats, We also have a siamese (yes siamese are hypoallergenic) but I don't think the average person would enjoy our cat's conversational habits as siamese talk frequently and LOUDLY..

The cats are in addtiion to the Great Pyrenees and everyone gets along.

She's not your child.
You see... That's part of the dog problem right there.
People think their dogs are their children and their dogs should be everywhere.

Why are you so invested in insulting people who love their dogs like a child?

Is it harming you in any way at all? How does someone loving an animal and taking a well behaved dog places with them doing any harm to anyone?

Yes but the people to be mad at are the companies profiting off of this. Not the dog owners.

Disney's rules with cleaning seems to be focusing on bathrooms and clean sheets. The rest is up for grabs. I wouldn't expect things to change.

I vote for pocket

I know someone gave an example of 2 big dogs being left in a room roaming free.. and a housekeeper entered without the owners present..and dog escaped.

I do think that a few not-much-common-sense owners who travel exist.. and I think they travel once with their pet, then never again.

I think that probably the great majority of pet owners would not leave dogs alone in a hotel room without being in a crate or a bathroom, first and foremost- for the safety of the pet.. and also because they don’t want to pay in the event of damage.

Your dog is not your child.
If you believe that there is a remote equivalency there is something wrong.
And yes, it does harm me.
Because it is this belief that now has people insisting on taking their dogs everywhere they go, which leads to hotels - WDW accommodating such ridiculous ideas.

This whole thing is odd. When I think of hotels that accept dogs, I think of cheap Best Westerns in rural areas, and on the other extreme you have the 4 and 5 stars in Manhattan where dogs are considered fashion accessories.

It doesn't seem like either of these fit Disney's model. I could see them doing this at the campgrounds and one or two of the uber-deluxe resorts. Basically to try and reach a NEW customer base (those who would rather stay at a Four-Seasons and bring their dog or those who would rather camp outside the park to bring their pets.

But how many people in the middle tier of hotel budget were choosing to not stay in a Disney resort due to pets? I can't imagine it's alot.

Considering Uni allows dogs, Uni is threatening WDW, and this move seems to have been something of a panic move - it may be more people then you think.

Not sure it's been asked, this thread growing so fast, but I wonder if this will pretty much put the Best Friends Pet Care out of business?
