4 Walt Disney World Resorts to accept dogs

I understand the leash thing but there are still plenty of owners who don't think anything of letting their dogs go to the end of the leash and it's 10-15 feet away. And there will be some who won't listen. This is WDW......way too many forget their brains at home....lol

I 100% agree with your last sentence!!

The rest, could that happen? Sure.
Probable? Probably not.
Just remember-Dog owners don't want their dog to hurt you, and they don't won't you to hurt their dog.
I can't see people letting a leash out to 10+ft indoors or in any congested areas.

If this doesn't work, its another sign of how badly WDW is running its resorts. It works at all sorts of other hotels, from La Quintas to Four Seasons and everywhere in between.

And again, if people want quiet and isolation, WDW is just an awful choice.
Again: Disney is a different type of vacation destination.
It's not just a hotel where guests would wake up in the morning and take their dogs out with them.
It's a place where people will leave their dogs behind, locked up in their hotel room - while the guests hit the parks for hours on end.

I don't think that behavior at WDW is significantly different in that respect then it is at other vacation destinations. It certainly isn't different from the hotels at Uni, which have always allowed dogs.

If guests don't want even the slightest threat of contact with a dog, there are a bunch of WDW resorts to choose from - or they can simply ask to be in the wing of the resort where dogs aren't housed.

I will say that leaving a dog in a hotel room for the entire day is the only downside to this, plus it's flat out horrible to the dog. I'm glad that Disney is giving the chance for dogs to be at the resorts, more chances for me to see adorable fluffiness!

I don't have any dogs but my parents and sister do. Every summer we take a trip to Northern Wisconsin and rent a cottage. There the dogs have a chance to run around swim in the lake. They love it. A dog wouldn't like just sitting in a hotel room for 10-12 hours while its owners are out a park. It's not really fair to the dog

May have already been posted in this thread but this is the response I got to the email I sent:

Dear Andy,

Thank you for contacting us regarding our dog-friendly Resorts.

We truly appreciate that you are such a dedicated fan of the Walt Disney World Resort and that you care enough to share your feedback. Much like Walt Disney once stated, "Disneyland will never be completed," the Walt Disney World Resort will never be completed as we are always coming up with improvements based on feedback from dedicated fans - just like you - who have a passion for the Disney brand. You may be assured that the safety of our Guests and Cast Members is our number one priority at all Parks and Resorts and that your feedback has been forwarded to the appropriate individuals.

Because dogs are considered beloved members of the family, select Disney Resort hotels will offer an opportunity for Guests to bring their favorite four-legged friends with them for an additional charge. Guests may have up to two dogs per room. Guests traveling with their dogs must register them with the Front Desk at the Resort and adhere to the pet policies they receive upon registration. These include reminders about proper care and behavior, as well as the need for the dog to remain on a leash at all times while in public spaces. Guests must be able to provide documentation that their dog’s vaccinations and inoculations are up to date, upon request.

We will designate certain floors or sections of a hotel as dog-friendly, while the majority of areas will remain canine-free to accommodate Guests with allergies or other concerns. Should you have any concerns during your visit, we encourage you to speak with a Cast Member at the Front Desk.

We truly appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts with us.

Best regards,
