Maybe.. but my kid killing it or spraying it with hairspray or Lysol is much cheaper... and I don't have to kill spiders that aren't in my own home or room., so don't have to worry about it in public.lol

Stamps, spiders eat bugs, like roaches and flies. I never kill spiders - just scoot them outside.

Your phobia has a name, arachnophobia. Derived from Arachne, the weaver Athena turned into a spider .

But I'm not scared of the actual spider.. I just don't like killing them! It's so strange, I know.lol

They better be willing to spend more money on housekeeping at these resorts. If there are traces of cat hair in a room I have an allergic reaction, I assume it's the same for those allergic to dogs.

There are so many breeds who do not shed and do not create allergic reactions.

I know that people keep imagining a resort full of Rottweilers and Pitt Bulls.. but I'm almost positive that most dogs seen at Riverside, and especially Yacht Club, would be mostly small dogs.

Like I said, my dog flys with me often and has traveled with me quite a bit.. so I use facilities at airports and hotels when a dog has to relieve himself. The majority of dogs I encounter are small.. I can't imagine that Disney will be much different.

Then. Don't. Kill. Them. lol

Poodles, one of the best breeds for those with allergies. Standard, not miniature or toy.

Yep. Poodle, Bichon.. my dog who is a Maltese.. and many more.
A lot of people buy these breeds because they want to take them when traveling, and they're relatively easy to travel with.

I took me a few times to read through this post to understand how it pertains to this subject but I think I got it. So you are saying that since Disney makes accommodates to a subset of people with dietary restrictions(which may in your opinion be mostly made up), then by equivalence Disney should allow an even larger subset of people that wish to bring their dog. Is that the jist of it?

I would have to disagree, a larger appeal certainly does not always make it a good policy. And having a tofu dish on a menu is much different than having a dog barking in the middle of the night.

For diet you've got to understand that Obligate when in reference to any biological context means its not voluntary. A good example are cats since they are obligate carnivores, they will not thrive on a diet that lacks meat.

Disney is meeting a market need regardless of anyone personal opinions. There exists a group of consumers who spend money that want to bring their dogs with them. Dogs in public are not prohibited. Your dog must, unless it is exempt from this requirement, be under the effective control of a competent person at all times when out in public. Dogs are now allowed in specific rental properties on Disney property by the property's owners.

Your remedy is to either not go to those areas/resorts/properties or purchase the company and institute your own reign of terror.

For all you germaphobes worrying about a dog sleeping in a bed before you.

Most of these rooms are occupied 100% of the time. As you lay your head down on the pillow, think about -

Sex, at least once a week, 50 times that year. Diaper changes, diaper leaks, diaper falls off, 30 times a year. Spilled, soda, beer, water, juice, coffee, 10 times a year. Food crumbs 50 times a year. How many millions of mold spores? How many sweaty naked people every summer?

You will be fine, get over it.

Let not forget little children touch their A**! Some people don't have hygienic manners when dealing with restrooms/bathrooms. Gross!

I love dogs, more than children, trust me on that. If someone asked me to hold their baby, I will give my disdain look upon them. But I wouldn't say no to hold a puppy. I also don't think some dogs don't need to be stuck in a hotel all day long while the family goes to the park. That not really fair.

Some agree with the decision...many disagree. I'm just going to sit back and watch. Odds are one (if not all) of the following will happen in very short order:

1. Fido escapes from the room chases a squirrel and ends up biting someone. - Lawsuit against Disney.
2. Fido escapes from the room while housekeeping enters - Never to be seen again. - Lawsuit against Disney.
3. Fido wanders down to the edge of the Sasagoula River one evening. - Never to be seen again - Lawsuit against Disney
4. Fido gets away from the pet owner and runs in front of a Disney bus. - Lawsuit against Disney
4. Fido's owners fearing Fido will escape - place a Do Not Disturb sign on their room for the duration of their 7 Night stay. - Enough Said
5. Fido barks all night prompting Disney to ask the pet owner to leave or board Fido somewhere. - Lawsuit against Disney.
6. Fido's owner gets in a fist fight with the man in the room next door because Fido won't shut up. - Lawsuit against Disney

You guys have really low opinions of dogs and dog owners.lol.

All of that stuff could happen any day of the week. If a dog survives on a daily basis without escaping a home., then said dog will probably be ok at WDW.

One could make a much larger list of potential lawsuits against Disney just from their normal daily operation having nothing to do with dogs. Potential litigation is not a reason to avoid doing business but a reason to follow proper risk management. Obviously they see a market for this and anticipate that it will be profitable for them despite whatever hazards they may foresee. And in the process they will satisfy some customers and potentially gain some new ones. If some guests react negatively to it that is certainly something they will need to consider which I'm sure is why at the moment this is just a test.

Not something I would personally use. Leaving my dog in a hotel room for hours on end is no better than leaving him at home with someone letting him out. We both enjoy vacation more that way.

Housekeeping quality has been questioned here for a long time. Just because Disney charges an extra $50/75 per night doesn’t mean the room will be any cleaner. A standard thorough cleaning should be enough to address any concerns, but we’ll find out soon enough if that is actually happening.

No doubt the noise issue may come into play as well. While my dog might not bark while at home in his crate, who knows what might happen while in a strange place? And who can get back to the resort within 30 minutes if relying upon Disney transport, especially when you’re told to allow much more than that to get to a dining reservation?

Personally I’ll choise to avoid these resorts from now on, fortunately they’re not favorites of ours. Just don’t want to take the chance of running into these issues that could affect our vacation. Why did Disney close their kennels in favor of Best Friends just to do this? I can’t imagine they’re happy about it.

Sadly, if you came to my office you would find that full grown adults lack serious hygienic manners too. I have a list of people who habitually don’t wash their hands in the restroom. There are many whose hands I refuse to shake;) I would shake hands with pretty much any dog who knows that trick:)
I also don't think some dogs don't need to be stuck in a hotel all day long while the family goes to the park. That not really fair.

This is my biggest issue with this policy too. I just picture some poor, sad dogs stuck in these little hotel rooms for hours on end. I think it’s fine maybe for a day or 2 but any longer and you should probably look into other options for the dog’s sake. I know a lot of people are just selfish, but think of man’s best friend before going to WDW for a week and keeping your dog in the room all day.

Right, because this is exactly the only type of dog that will be brought to WDW.

I’m willing to sit back and wait a few weeks to see what unfolds. Given that the new policy takes effect tomorrow, we’ll know soon enough if there are major issues or not.

In the meantime, people posting pics of their cute little puppies proves nothing. I have an adorable <7-lb dog too. So?
