Fantasmic is a great show; prefaced by a great amount of time waiting on very uncomfortable bleacher-type benches.

The suggestion of finding a seat 90 minutes before the show begins, and the lack of "something to do" during that time begs the question, why doesn't Disney provide some sort of entertainment? An "opening act" if you will. Some have said that they have seen performers in that area, but I have never seen any performers in the actual theater prior to showtime.

MGM has a number of street performers but not everyone in the park gets the chance to see them perform. So why not bring them out (at the Fantasmic / Hollywood Hills theater) at 8 PM for a mini-showcase type of program? At least that would give guests something to see other than the people trying to sell various toys. Heck, get some guys from Pleasure Island's Comedy Warehouse to come out and do a show. Just get something ...anything.

We saw Fantasmic in the year 2000. They had some jasper up there entertaining us by spinning plates on sticks. His delivery was awful and the jokes were lame. I'm going to Disney World in two weeks and I would rather have no entertainment than have some human want-to-be attempting humor and failing miserably.
Next on the lame list are so called entertainers that insist on saying "everybody say ooooh, now everybody say aaahhhhhh." Isn't that hilarious?
:hurl:
I love Disney World. I love all things Disney. But this stuff ain't Disney.

did you really have to call the bellman a
human want-to-be
? That wasn't necessary now... was it?

Anyway... he wasn't a Disney CM.... he was a contractor... so like most other contractors, when the contract ends.. he goes. He's doing an act now in Epcot in World Showcase though.... I believe it's called Lou E.G.

I think a Fantasmic pre-show would be a great idea!
Anyone who has ever seen the 'Clyde & Seamore Take Pirate Island' show at SeaWorld will have seen the mime artist who imitates guests as they enter the stadium - a great bundle of laughs in my opinion!
I hope someday, Disney will put something like this into Fantasmic!

We entertained ourselves in 2002. The whole got the wave going and we all started singing.

It was pretty cool, but some pre-show entertainment would be much better.

Just saw Fantasmic a few weeks ago at Disneyland and they have a pre-show... a live band playing on a TSI raft, that moves up and down the river. This helped pass the time. Since DL has no seating maybe the added live entertainment to help pass the time.

We loved this pre show also at Sea World....they have been doing that show for at least 15 years I believe and no matter how many times you go its still a riot...my kids loved it....but I think that Fanatsmics theather might be a little bit too large for everyone to enjoy it. If your way over to one side and the act is on the other side it would be hard to see it well. But I would like to see them do something.

Sitting in the crowd is some times fun before the show, but a little something something on stage would be cool.........

I can't remember how long it's been, but I remember that they used to have two guys out there, and their act had something to do with a ladder or two...

Maybe they had to get rid of the act to take the ladders over to Mission:SPACE? :lookaroun

No question about it, pre-show entertainment is a must.

The two bellhops that used to do a routine before the show were hysterical! I understand that contracts expire and all, but that routine was good enough to make it a permanent part of the show.

How can having nothing be better?

I remember those guys, I know they were there in '99. I'm not sure if they were still there in 2000. The act was corny, but better than nothing.

I agree. 90 minutes is too long of a wait to not have any pre-show entertainment. I remember when I first saw it there were a couple of Streetmosphere actors doing some skits before the show, but it's been a while since I've seen them there. Budget cuts, I supose. Of course, I usually do the Fantasmic Dinner Plannow to avoid those 90 minute waits and I can take 30 minute wait with no preshow, but I can understnd that something is needed for those who don't use the package.

The best pre-show we saw during Fantasmic, was our friends party they threw a few days before their wedding. Desserts and the private viewing area at the back. Cake, cocoa, bananas foster, etc. Not to mention it was cold and windy early December 2002

Basically has ruined me from ever going again and waiting in line 1 hour<ouch>

Is it just me or does this poll seem a bit biased? :lookaroun

Yeah... I think some sort of pre-show entertainment would be good... I'm not sure if it would be feasible due to the budget or anything but overall pre-shows really do add to the ambience and would be a good addition to Fantasmic... :)

Answer: no, I didn't have to call him a human-want-to-be. I should have called him an entertainer-want-to-be. The crowd was actually moaning like the Hulk just passed gas. Suffice it to say that the majority were not pleased. But hey, I wish him the best.

as a professional entertainer, I'd like to see you get up there and do a better job yourself. Not as easy as it looks...

anyway, back to the topic at hand. The ladder guys are over @ AK now in Dinorama
