I booked three rooms at SOG. I'm taking my children 35 & 31 and their spouse, with my Grandchildren 7, 5, 3, and one turning 3 at time of trip. Just got word a month ago that my 35yo ds and hise wife are expecting another in February. Anybody out there ever take one that young. Should I ask them to rethink coming. Of course I'm paying.

There are LOTS of people out there who have taken children that young and younger! You'll hear lots of stories from people on this board who have done it. I personally haven't taken a baby that small (I did take a 14 month old though) but I can still pass on some advice.

They will have to set some realistic expectations for their trip but they can still have a wonderful time. They can still go on any ride they want to by utilizing the "baby swap". There are baby care centers in all the parks which are a great place to get away and feed or change your baby.

I would suggest they bring their own stroller as the Disney ones are not very suitable for young children. The baby would be much more comfortable in a stroller where it could nap. I would also suggest they bring a Snugli as you can't take a stroller everywhere (ie. queues, pavillions, etc.) This way they wouldn't have to hold the baby the whole time and they would also have their hands free.

I'm sure you'll get lots more advice but there's a start!

Here is a thread about it:
http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=272013

We took DS2 at 3 months & again at 10 months. We had a great time both times. Definately have them bring their own stroller. The park ones are not meant for little little ones. Also, have them get a rain cover for the stroller. There are always afternoon showers in Florida! They will be so grateful to have one!!! Another item is a sling. We used the Bjorn for the 1st trip. I got a sling for the 2nd trip. Wish I had it all along. Much more comfy than the Bjorn. Utilize the Baby Care centers. They are a great way to get out of the heat for a bit and feed and change baby. Good luck & have a great family trip!!!!

Had my daughter not been born 10.5 weeks early at 3 lbs, she would have been there about that age. We were banned from being in contact with other people because of germs that could effect preemies during the first few months of life, as well as the winter months - so we had to stay in and away from people until April (once flu season was over). Dr. gave us clearance on April 1st - we were on a plane April 27th! I would do it again!

Having had the preemie, I am now extremely "paranoid" about babies and germs on the plane - I don't worry about the germs at Disney - but the plane still freaks me out. Just something to keep in mind.

I agree with the other posts. If Mom is fine, then I wouldn't worry about it. DS has been to WDW 11 times (he's 2 1/2 and #12 time will be this weekend). His first trip, he was just over a month old. It was fine. He was in his own stroller, and I also had a carrier. We were able to go on a lot of rides with him and the others, my Mom or Dad watched him. We had a great time and so will you!!!

I actually think your group size will help a lot. There will be a lot of people to help with the baby and help the parents out with respect to carrying baby gear. At that age, you can even push the baby around in the stroller while it's napping. No problem at all.
