4 Day Mountain Getaway- Social Distancing Style

Sun is starting to go down.. I don’t want to be hiking at dusk.. so we go off to finish the loop..





The weird thing about this trail, is it leads you to a road.., to cross a bridge where the dam is... then takes you back in the woods. A couple of cars zoomed by, which was in stark contrast to the rest of the day.




T remarked that he “can’t wait til I weigh enough to do Level 3 zip line and zip across the lake “
Slow down buddy, time is already going too quickly







Now we’re feeling a lot more comfortable out here. Have not seen a bear or a snake. We see a rugged looking trail, a shortcut, steep incline down and up.
T says “That looks fun, let’s take it.”
We do.
It was definitely steep. T slipped and fell on his bum at first.
I was definitely keeping my eyes out for snakes.









Now back up the other side...

We decide to keep hiking past the cabins, meeting up with the main trail, going back to the lodge, then circling back to the cabins.
I would not have done the trail (if you can even call or that) pictured below, had it been a few hours earlier. I’m feeling proud of us.. and less frightened of the wildlife


These stairs almost did me in.
I knew that I’m in the worst shape I’ve ever been in, but this definitely confirmed it for me.



We get back to the cabin.. check our distance and flights climbed again.
Looking better. 54 flights climbed during 6 miles of hiking.




Next we’re going into town to pick up food, but get sidetracked and do another fun activity- one that we haven’t been able to do here, due to COVID-19 rules ...

Then I see T holding his knife.

“T, what are you doing? Keep that in your pocket.”

“Mom, if a bear jumps out, I’ll protect us. I’m 10 now, I can do it.”

I am amazed with how much hiking you did in one day. Me, I would do one trail and call it a successful day.

It was delicious!

I am ok., I’m really lucky that I got a new driveway and new larger drain semi recently. My garage would constantly flood before that. Even so, I placed boards on the driveway to try to prevent water from coming in with all of the rain we’ve had recently.. it’s working so far.
