Geesh..... this thread is still KICKING!!! Giving the Energizer Bunny a run for the money!!!

Times are tough yes....live within your means. End of story.

Yep, totally agree, but that's why some Americans are experiencing issues - they were not really live within their means or truly saving for that rainy day.

I wish I could withstand a long car ride...gas would be so much cheaper than flying for us. But alas, I am not a big fan of a 24 hour car ride...been there done that don't wanna do it it again.

Gas is $2.25 near my house but there was an all day sale on Sat fro $1.99. I already had a half of a tank but filled up the rest anyway.:)

well it was too little too late for this year..

while the price of gas has dropped. it was too little too late for this year.. and I have no idea what the price would be the next chance that we could go in March.. that's close to five months away.. it could be back to $4 by then..

and I wasn't the person who brought this thread back.. but I did get the email that it had been brought back..

its also too bad that our economy has taken a giant dive in the mean time.. Fueled extensively by the high cost of gas for the past year..

and if you seriously believe gas prices will stay low. (ie they are low because everything else is so bad) I have some oceanfront property for you in Arizona - call me.

The bad economy was not caused by high gas prices. $1.92 here on I-75 in middle Georgia.

I agree - but the price has gone down because the economy is bad. IE: people are not using as much. It's going to go back up. I would love to be wrong, but I'm pretty confident I'm not.

no, I don't believe they will stay low because of the economy. but I believe they will stay reasonable due to supply and demand. with more and more people buying more fuel efficient cars and alternative fuel cars the demand for oil will decrease. there's a reason hybrids have a waiting list.

but then again I try to occupy my time with better things than worrying what the price of gas will be next year.

We just got back and drove 1944 miles or so. It cost us 220.00 in gas, cheapest we found was 2.54 but that was pretty much everywhere in the south. Of course that was last month around this time. Today, here in Indy I saw 1.74 down the road a bit. Much improved! It would have cost triple that to fly and we don't mind the drive. I would go again in a heartbeat but seems like I have a wedding in my future.... DD is engaged to a great guy and we couldn't be happier for them. A wedding is a huge expense, we are working on a budget now. Knocks out vacation plans for next year but we will survive.

Fuel prices still rediculous in the UK especially diesel 1.06 per litre with the weak pound thats only around $1.55 but its still mad. Its much improved from £1.37 but clearly the price is dropping much quicker in the US.

boom 1.95 gallon now have a happy trip!

1.89 where I'm at !!!!!! The cost to fill up for me has been cut in half compared to what I was paying at this time in July. Much needed relief.

Our gas just dropped to 2.04. I hope it stays low!!!

Gas is $1.71 down the street from my apartment.

Wow! Those prices are insane!! $2.54 here around me still in upstate NY. I have seen it as low as $2.34 but that is over an hour from me.

Although low demand has helped to reduce the cost of gas it's not the sole reason. Demand was going down long before prices started to decrease at the fast rate of the last 2-3 months. Oil prices are also affected by the cost of a barrel of gas which skyrocketed due to speculators, OPEC's decision on how much to produce, etc. The biggest factor for the price going down as quickly as it did is the stock market. As we hit this huge financial crisis the price per barrel plummeted as well as many other stocks.

I do see the cost going back up as the stock markets improve and I hope that they don't go up as high as they were earlier this year.
