I know disney is cash strapped and wont be doing anything that big for a minute but I think itd be cool if they would build that eastern gateway parking structure, with a gondola on top that takes you south to toy story parking which has been converted to waterpark/hotel.

Its crazy to me that theres no Disney waterpark in LA or really any waterparks (except the knotts soak city and raging waters both of which are pretty small) the weather here is sunny and 80 degrees year round, i feel like a dedicated disney waterpark would be soo cool. possible a blizzard beach/typhoon lagoon combo.

anyways, just a thought

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is in LA.

Wild Rivers in Irvine should open in 2021.

Great Wolf Lodge is near Disneyland on Harbor Blvd, just south of the DLR.

Staffing a year round Waterpark in California, with so many public beaches nearby, doesn't make sense.. The model that makes Financial sense, especially due to how expensive Labor is in California, is May through September.

I wish the SoCal market had a water park with the same level of quality and theming as the Disney World ones too. Although if we’re talking blue sky I would rather place it in the Simba lot/southwest Downtown Disney parking closer to the existing gates. That space is about the same size as those water parks out there, it’s oddly perfect minus the zoning

I always thought the entire k lot and with Toy story overflow parking lot would make interesting amusement park layout much like Tivoli Gardens.
Seems very unlikely their will be ever a third park.
I don’t foresee Disney opting for a water park in SoCal. Only as a option for hotels.

Remember that the city of Anaheim wants a section of that land for an extension of Gene Autry Way from Haster to the Convention Center. Will be very difficult to get the city to approve a new use without accommodating Gene Autry Way.

Oh, Oh, Oh...let me put this suggestion out. How about we create a park that has all of the old classic rides that Disney has torn out.

Horizons
World of Motion
Peoplemover
Adventure Thru Innerspace
Mine Train through Nature's Wonderland
America Sings
Country Bear Jamboree
A Skyway
Maelstrom
Food Rocks
Circlevision - America the Beautiful
Great Movie Ride

That's a good start, right

<sarcasm mode off>

If I had a dime for every time this has been suggested on a message board or FB post, I could retire.

Now back to the actual question...I think that once we get through this debacle, Disney could very easily build a 3rd park (they won't). Unfortunately, they are using Marvel and Star Wars as anchors at the 2 existing parks so that's a bit challenging. If I had my choice, dust of the Westcot plans and go to town.

I’m only replying with my thoughts when I’m as younger. That why I said their would likely ever be no third gate in Anaheim.

I don’t think it on Disney wishlist either. That ship sailed too long ago. It seem like the last expansion pad for Toy Story Lot would remain a future of more hotel and retail development.

Chapekland, opening 2030.
-MORE MARVELous!
-MORE STAR WAR!
-MOAR IP
-MAOR DIZNEY

Featuring an updated Partnerz (cuz we're hip now!) statue with Chapek and Iger, with Chapek gesturing towards (depending on who you ask) an incoming shipment of money or his beloved favorite ride, Inside Out: Emotional Whirlwind.

In all seriousness, Disney is probably very happy they don't have a third gate to deal with right now and that they didn't go forward with that fourth hotel.

I think step one of this is for us to actually agree on how much space is available at the strawberry lots. Darkbeer is claiming one thing. The maps is showing another. And I don't think anyone here is clear which of the surrounding housing properties around the lots are also owned by Disney for intended future use.

I would say without a minimum of about 80 acres, you can't build a full fledged theme park. But anything over 30 acres is overkill for any sort of hotel/waterpark need. So 30-80 acres is just about no man's land in terms of anything Disney conceivably could use it for, unless they get very creative.

This isn't the midwest. There is no reason for another waterpark. We have the world's best beaches and a lot of homes have pools.

i hear ya, but i dont like beaches at all and they are a much different exp than a water park. and pools are great, but i dont have one and they are still nothing like a waterpark.

Honestly, you can count the number of interesting and unique water parks out there on one hand.

Most of them look the same and have the exact same slides as everywhere else.

Now MAYBE if Disney built one in CA, it would be beautifully themed and detailed. But have you been on those slides at Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach? Nothing particularly notable other than the visuals.

I don't see 2020 Disney building a Summit Plummet either.

you can’t have the best beaches in the world if the Alaskan waters are too cold to swim in
