Did anyone else glance at the title of this thread and think we had 3D pictures of the FL construction?

If they start construction on the mine train in the next few months I think everything will be up and running by October 2012.

From what I understand the reason that they haven't started construction yet on SDMT is because of the fact that in order to do so they would have to push the walls in Fantasyland even further into guest areas to accommodate the construction equipment and the site itself.

That area is a cluster as it is right now. And with the busier summer season starting to get into full swing that's nowhere near feasible. It also wouldn't be feasible come fall because then the holidays are around the corner and they wouldn't be able to get any significant work done before having to push the walls back again to accommodate the intense crowds.

It is simply much more logical to wait until there are more areas for guest traffic flow (e.g. Storybook Circus at the very least) before they begin construction on SDMT.

The rumor is that the FLE is 6 months ahead of schedule. We had an extremely dry winter here so I know they haven't been rained out of construction work. So lets hope this is true and the mine train will start construction soon. Please help set me straight, i am confused. In the "How much will open in 2012" thread, Raven said everything would be open in Oct 2012, but you say everythign is 6 months ahead of schedule. Is the October 2012 dates the opening dates based on the 6 months ahead schedule plan, or has the 6 months not been factored into the October dates. (Sorry if that sound confusing, but I think you understand what i am asking)

PS: I was told the circus area would be finishing up around Late Spring/Early Summer of 2012.

Lee had posted a schedule a few months ago that indicated that the Circus area would open in the Spring of 2012. Not sure if that has changed since then. Looking at the speed of construction in that area and the relative simplicity of what is being build Spring 2012 should be doable.

Out of curiosity where did the "6 months ahead of schedule" rumor originate?

I dont know other than Scuttle saying it.

I've seen it on another thread. My best friends father is a mechanical engineer at WDW. I asked him about the rumor I saw of the FLE being ahead of schedule and he did tell me they are ahead of schedule. What he told me was "By the looks of the newest construction photos they are months ahead". He also told me that this is probably because of the dry weather we have had all winter and spring so far. Which makes sense. So take that for however you want. I said it was a rumor for a reason. By no means is this concrete.

Yea, I think we're a few months out from them pouring any of that.:p

Considering the relative investment into both they shouldn't be compared.

I think they should it just shows you Disney is still capable of putting money into the parks.

CL massive E-ticket and two B tickets.

FLE two d-tickets and Meet & Greets.

CL: Almost as much rock work as EE

FLE nice rock work but nothing impressive.

While needed FLE is very underwhelming.

It blew my mind how much of a difference I see in this pictures and in what I saw back in May. I am excited to see what things will look like when my husband and I take a weekend getaway in the next few months. Very nice!

I think your assessment of Carsland may be a bit light. Radiator Springs Racers essentially has twice the budget of any Disney ride ever built. The two additional attractions may be regarded as C-Tickets as they're probably a step above the likes of Silly Symphony Swings or Dumbo. Additionally the amount of Rock work seems to far exceed the amount done in Expedition Everest.

The Fantasyland Expansion is needed and is worth looking forward to - but to compare it to something with a much larger budget is really unfair. I don't know all the numbers but what I've heard is that the price tag for FLE is comparable to the price tag for Radiator Springs Racers.

yeah the cadillac range is the second largest man made rockwork ever built. second only to mt promethius (however you spell it) at tokyo disney sea. also though the budget for the FLE isn't the 600+ million for CL i think for the estimated 300 million i heard it will be quite nice. in fact the tree's and water features will be be quite stunning and immersive i hope.

While Lasseter is an amazing mind, this is his baby from concept to current developments. So the money is going to flow in his direction given his position within disney. I have confidence that it will be a great attraction, seems weird putting so much into one franchise though. Look at past disney, it's been a theme with multiple outlets (FL = peter pan, snow white, dumbo, etc.)

I don't think Carsland was a concept that was created by Lasseter, my understanding was that Imagineers knew he would be having part of the approval for this project, so concepts that were thought to be approved by Lasseter were bumped up the ladder.

I really never thought about how well you will see the new FLE from the Contemporary/BLT. I think that's a huge plus for all the rooms that are park view. Pretty cool!

You are kind of making my point for me. Instead of a huge expansion like CL they were going to put one new ride and several M&G's. They realized the a bunch of Meet and Greets wasn't going to cut it and that noone cares about the Faries franchise so they added the coaster.

My point is they decided to do something great in one expansion CL and the other they decided to do the bare minimum just what was needed FLE!
