Was just reading on the Disneyworld.com site "Big Thunder Mountain will be closed for refurbishment August 24, 2003 - November 19, 2003. " I didn't see dates posted here anywhere so just wanted to give people a heads up.

The animation Studios is going down to in that time from sept 1-oct 31. I hope some good things come from all these rehabs.

Well the ToT and RnRC rehabs that were rumoured have not been posted up by Disney and Guest Services say they aren't scheduled.

que

first off, they will be adding air conditioning to the que.

the BTMR has to be the worst que in WDW. It is so tight and sooooo much longer than it looks.

This would be a great ride to have a themed que. The ride is wonderful but many people don't realize how anticlimactic the que makes it. A Que could build a story to the ride instead of just getting on and going.

I don't think they'll be making any major structural changes but, I wish they would to the que.

I think the most important thing they're doing is adding A/C.

Thank you so much for posting this!! My family and I will be there from the 23rd-31 of August, so now we have a plan of action to get there to BTM (my dad's favorite attraction) the day we arrive.:sohappy:

Especially if you get caught out in the open part in the sun. And you're right about the theming. Certainly not on par with Splash Mountain.

I'm glad they're fixing the queue. It was so boring and long. Other than the water fountain and watching all these people on the ride, nothing but waiting. It was long and boring so I'm glad they're fixing it.

That's kinda odd, because I did E-Rides last Friday night and was just thinking to myself that BTMRR was one ride that didn't have A/C... I guess I've never really thought about it before, but I was looking at how they have bars where windows should go... gives the effect of windows...

That Keys to the Kingdom tour really helps you pick up on the little stuff... :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy: (Thanks Brick!!!)

Your nuts. And no, you cant have my fast pass.

How is the que anticlimatic? Your going on a run away mine car, and the que is going through an old mining/western building? The anticlimatic part comes when you have to get off the ride, not in the que. So its a long que, that ride draws crowds, it needs one. And how are they going to AC a completely open que? Thats a waste of energy, and blocking up the windows will take away from the ride. The refurb will most likely be a paint and track fix, but i could be wrong.
