I have been checking the vacation countdown daily and it feels like the right time to start this pre-trip report.
The who? We are missing a few faces this trip. It will be these three kiddos Nene (10), Bear (10) and Handsome (8).
And me!
We are going to be missing Jet and Hubby this trip but they will be living their best soccer loving lives. They will be watching soccer and visiting training camps in England. I'm not sure who will be having more fun.
What? In typical Spring break fashion we will be celebrating my birthday as well as Nene and Bears.
Where? This gets complicated. The trip started as three days at AKL in a Savannah view studio we bought through David's Vacation Club. Once Hubby and Jet booked their flights we decided to mirror their trip so we added days on the front and end. On the front 2 nights at Port Orleans Riverside in the Royal Rooms. On the end 3 nights at Pop Century standard pool view room.
When? March 21-March 30
Why? When I started talking about taking a trip with my three kiddos there was really only one place we all agreed on, WDW. We agreed to stay at new resorts, eat at new restaurants and to take it slow. The taking it slow is going to be hard for me but I'm up for the challenge.
We had big plans for France but we knew we needed to spend some time packing up our room. The girls went to the ice cream shop while handsome and I collected my drink and some bread.
I gave Nene my credit card so she could pay. For some reason my kids couldn't charge to their magicbands this trip. I remember Nene handing me the card with the receipt wrapped around it. Well that was the last I saw of that credit card!
It was time for our next LL
Our kiddos love playing on these every time we ride.
We only snacked all day so that bread came in handy for the bus ride back to AKL.
We spent some timing watching these beauties back at the resort
We packed and rested spending about 3 hours at the resort. We ate some pizza at the hotel before heading back to the park. Once at the park we had only 2 agendas. Ride Figment and hope our Virtual queue was called.
We were hungry for popcorn after Figment so we headed towards Canada for our beloved Maple popcorn. We had a few pit stops.
We decided to head towards Guardians so we were nearby when we were called. The kids convinced me to ride Mission Space.
Well new fear unlocked. The ride broke down and we were trapped in the pod for 20 minutes. I had a panic attack and my poor children were scared to death. They did not communicate to us the whole time and it was terrible. I now have a pretty serious case of claustrophobia. Elevators and airplanes are now a struggle. The only positive was our boarding group was called so we went to GOTG next.
After the whole Mission to Space fiasco we were all ready to head back to the resort. We left through the front and got a bus quickly back to Animal Kingdom Lodge.
I checked our step count and twelve miles with 3 kiddos. 1 lost backpack (recovered), 1 lost credit card (still lost) and felt like a champ.
I did go ahead and file a report with lost and found. I didn't want to turn off the card since I was certain I threw it away and Jet was using a card in England connected to mine. If I turned off mine hers would go too. I became obsessed with checking the balance.
March 26 - Magic Kingdom
I was up early checking on my card and looking through Hubby and Jets England trip. It was my only clues to whether the charges were real.
We all still love that first glimpse of Cindy's castle.
We decided on Fantasyland for our next destination. We all squeezed into a teacup.
As if we weren't dizzy enough it was time for Dumbo. My kiddos were sad the play area wasn't open for extra magic morning.
Then Barnstormer.
I was really missing Jet as we climbed into our clamshell. Bear gave a way to cheer me up.
Now that the park was open to other guests we decided to slow it down and get a bite to eat. We had never been to Gaston's so we decided to split some cinnamon rolls.
SDMT Bears favorite was next. Nene and Bear had a tiff in line on who got to ride with me. Normally they are fighting over who gets to ride with their dad. It's good to be loved.
Waits we're lose this morning so we jumped into a 20 minutes line for Haunted Mansion.
Only 1 of our ride photos appeared.
They look terrified .
We had a LL for Jungle Cruise. We go to Disney once a year (twice if I can sneak it by Hubby) and these three swear they have never rode Jungle Cruise.
Nene my jokster claims she would be a great captain someday. We spent a lot of time talking about the college program after that. I hope they all do it so I can come visit.
We popped into Pirates next.
We stopped by CHH. Bear adores the kids Salmon. We ate upstairs and had the place to ourselves. I didn't take any pictures but remember it being a great break after a busy morning. We had already received a room ready text and the kids were excited to check out another resort. We waved to a few friends on our way out.
We didn't wait long for a bus. It was only 2pm but luckily our luggage had already been transferred. We made our way to our room in the 50's section.
We changed quickly Handsome & Bear went straight to the pool. Nene needed a nice long nap.
We should have all opted for a nap. There was some bickering about walking to the Poly. I had forgotten the walkway was closed and we had done some backtracking.
Once we arrived the fight was forgotten. We were eating dinner at O'Hana for probably the first and last time. We didn't enjoy the food and our service was very bad. Once we were seated we never saw our original server again. It was an odd meal.
After dinner we hopped on the monorail to MK. The kids humored me with a few pictures in front of the castle.
We did some shopping and then found a spot for fireworks. We made friends with a family from Louisiana and passed the time talking and sharing trip stories.
This wasn't the best angle to watch the show but it allowed us to make our way to our ILL quickly once the show was over.
We were out the door early and excited to ride the Skyliner. We were surprised at how long the line was at 7:30 and discover that we would need to get in line much earlier the next time.
We decided to ride TOT first.
Next up MMRR
The park was officially open and we were ready for breakfast.
Breakfast devoured it was time to explore GE. We explored all the knocks and crannies. Took a doing on Smugglers Run and used our ILL on ROTR. We topped it all off with some fun Canadian Friends at Oga's.
We went back for the room for a rest. We all chose a nap this day. We spent some time talking to Hubby. Jet was attending the Everton Academy that day and living her best soccer life. She met players from Scotland, France to as far as Australia. The whole trip expanded her love for the game. It was about 6:00 when we got back to the park. We hadn't paid a visit to Woody & Toys yet so TSL was our first stop.
We had just enough time to ride TOT again before we hopped in line for Fantasmic.
It was sprinkling and windy so we were nervous the show would get cancelled. It was able to go It all stopped just as the show started and we had a great time.
Handsome showing off his Magicband on our flight home.
March 28- Magic Kingdom - Bear and Nene's 11th birthday
We were awakened very early by a call from across the pond to wish the twins a happy birthday. Since we were up we decided to go ahead and catch a bus to MK. As soon as we arrived on Main Street the girls requested birthday drinks from Starbucks. So that was our first stop.
Drinks obtained we made a plan to head to Tomorrowland first again. Bears fancy nails with her birthday beverage.
Next up Buzz per are usual plan
Since we had wasted time on coffees the park was already open. We decided to skip Fantasyland for now and go across the Hub.
My birthday girls
We mobile ordered Sleepy Hollow. Little did we know this was our last time eating our favorite MK breakfast.
Bear absolutely loves this pancake syrup. I found a stash of it in her bedroom one time. She ranks breakfast locations on whether they have her syrup or not
