Eventually, something good will go into that area.

To have the ability to add an attraction for children, without killing the possibility of a major attraction in the future....I am not sure what the issue is.

Even if they started work on a major E-ticket today, it would not be completed for at least 2 years. The fact that they can add something, and have it done within a few months.......that is not a bad thing.

At least it is not a Dino-Rama, or taking up the entire area......

Totally Agree,
Imaginears couldn't think of something to put there
and if the couldn't, why not just leave it as 20k until they did

Why go from:
20k lagoon - to 100 acre wood - to E-Ticket

instead of going from:
20k lagoon - to E-Ticket :veryconfu

Close. It is being turned into 100 Acre Woods from the Pooh stories, and will be used as a character meet and greet area. I don't know whether there will be a play area inside it or not, anyone know?

oh boy....another meet and greet.

Why keep 20K there if there is no chance of reopening it?

I know that a playground isn't the same as a ride (no matter what the scale of the ride is), but it is definetly better than that closed for refurbishment sign.

On a side note....I saw some pictures (sketches) of an early AK with a submarine in the water. Did the imagineers have hopes of bringing the submarine ride to the AK in some form?

Guys, does anyone have an updated satellite image? I was viewing one this morning but it is outdated.. The image shows 20K still there. If someone can get a satellite image of the area that will be used for this play area, i think we can put some discussion to rest whether there is enough room for a dark ride or two in the same area.

Doesn't Disneyland in California have a hedge maze in MK themed to Alice in Wonderland? If this play area gets a bunch of little kids and their parents off the attraction lines and makes the lines and wait times lower, then I am all for it.

I think you are thinking of Disney Paris.

But keeping that in mind. I'd like to see a Alice in Wonderland ride like is in Disneyland. The ride vehicle is the caterpillar, sorry can't recall the character's name. Perhaps the Pooh ride could move to the area around/behind the soft play area. That would free up the current Pooh ride area for Alice, putting it in closer proximity to the Tea Cups where Alice characters currently hang out.

It would be great to see Pinocchio come into the area too, close to the Village Haus, and still be room for an E ticket amongst them.

I would not expect Pooh to move at all.....20K took up an area about 4-5x larger than IaSW......that being said, a large attraction AND the palyground could probably fit with no problems.

people say they can put the playarea and two rides there... I wish we can get an updated satellite image to see how the area looks now and where this 100 Acre Wood area is and how much space it takes up...

In my mind's eye, I can see 2 smaller dark rides which take up the space currently available in Fantasyland, then perhaps an E ticket that would use the 20K building with access more towards Toontown area.

Also....something to think about

There is a ton of land between the back of FL and the railroad tracks......but their is an access road between the area....so, entrances and facades could be built in FL, with the ride buildings taking up this land, which is VERY large.

Actually I'm very selfish. I'd love to see WDW get the best of the other Disney parks. Florida can be the "melting pot" of the best of.

Probably because I doubt I'll ever get to Disney Paris or Hong Kong.

But that's another thread.

I would not mind that.....especially since I live in Orlando, and don't go to LA much......cloning does not both me one bit.

I do think the other WDW parks (except maybe Epcot) need new major attractions before MK does.......

I agree, Speck76, plenty of park space at DS and AK to incorporate "best of" rides. Journey to the Center of the Earth sounds great in AK!
