So wait a minute, let me get this straight. It took Eisner ten years to come up with a temporary gift shop for one of the best pieces of real estate in the MK? I think a 6 year old could run the place better
Like I said before I think this area will bring much more than you think. I know a whole bridge of opportunities is opening.

I would hope the long term plan for this area includes a comprehensive rethinking of the entire Fantasyland area. Certainly a high quality ride (or multiple rides) are a must addition for Fantasyland. Moreover the use of the available space needs serious thought in order to make Fantasyland more guest friendly. The area is the most crowded and congested in the park and just adding another ride attracting more guests crowding in this small area makes little sense. Some sort of overall design that includes a comfortable transition into a better Toontown area makes sense to me.

I'm hoping there is a possibility of using land behind 20k as well for a greatly expanded Fantasyland that includes a wider midway and greater sense of entry into a special place in the park. I would like to walk through that magnificent castle and have a feeling of awe as you enter an area that truly transports you into a space that inspires and invites. The theme is Fantasy, and that has a universe of possibilities for architecture, art, and guest enjoyment.

I'm just dreaming out loud of course, but I have stated before on these boards of the need to rethink this area of the park. My first recent trip to DL confirmed these feelings after seeing that version of Fantasyland and Toontown. There is so much more that can be done in this area, I hope the imagineers are allowed to run wild and design a place that puts more magic back into the Magic Kingdom.

The meet and greet is only temporary for a few years. This is definitely a likely choice though (although I think Disney overdoes the princess stuff...).

But hey it does sell BIG!!!!!!

Well, if the princess meet-n-greet is temporary like the closing of 20K was, we should see a new attraction sometime in 2014. :fork:

If I want to be optimistic, I'll hope that they at least theme this area well to "finish off" the back of Fantasyland, and while all the meeting and greeting is going on they can be constructing a killer attraction behind the greet in the area of the old show building (which was huge if you look at aerial photos).

Somehow, though, I think I'll be taking my daughter there for several years to come.

I hope the meet-n-greet is temporary because it would be stupid thing to do make a bigger crowd to a already crowded area.

Big deal...another meet and greet.

Why is everyone so anxious for this corner of the park to be finished off? So it may be a few years before another ride is built....so what! It is not like nothing has been added to the MK in the last year....Wishes, Philharmagic, both great replacements that were better than their predecessors....SGE...looks to be cool, from what we know so far.

There is enough construction and renovation going on at WDW right now....it would be stupid to add another major attraction to the MK, when the MK will be able to feed off of the 3 other e-tickets under construction at Epcot/MGM/DAK, along with there own new attractions.

speck - I think its more the fact that the management waited ten years to come up with this underwhelming plan. Plus there have been so many juicy rumours over the past few years of the final use for the site....

Well, it took them 20 years to replace the patch of dirt that became Splash Mountain. No theme park anywhere can keep every ride ever built and continue to grow/expand. Look at Cedar Point, a park that has been around since for 135 years.....not too many original attractions, not even a whole lot of attractions from the 1960's.

As the park get older, rides will be removed, and eventually replaced with something else.

Remember also, a parks, Disney or not, build for the masses, not us....how many of the 14 million visitors to the MK yearly really care that 20K is gone, or that it may only be replaced for now with a meet and greet....not too many I would assume...at least attendance trends don't support that people care too much.

Another thing, maybe people need to stop spreading uncredible rumors like they are the absolute truth....even if these rumors are coming from credible sources, all companies have changes in plans.
