As usual, I was already asleep last night, by the time NBC decided to show the women's figure skating finals. Just checked the results this morning on the news, and I'm glad I didn't see the coverage last night. Disappointing results for the U.S. women's figure skating team . . . it's too bad, as they're all talented athletes; but apparently, they were not at their best level under pressure. :(

Aside of that, I would still want to extend congratulations to the 3 women from other countries who earned their medals.

A disappointing game. I had no idea it was going to end the way it did. To all the Canadians, enjoy the win... Just...don't rub it in! The Canadians shut down the USA completely and were clearly the better team. Something I must rant is that too often some people don't know how to take wins and losses with class and they have not played the actual games for heaven's sake. (I admit I took the US-Russia game too personally about my dislike for Kovalchuk so I apologize.) I know talking about politics is strictly taboo here but whatever is happening in Washington or the regime has nothing to do with the outcomes in Olympics. And if you're going to blame someone, blame no one because the reality is guess who the biggest critics of athletes are? The athletes themselves! They all know deep down in their heart the result was not what they wanted and letting down an entire nation has to be a terrible feeling. Failure hurts no matter how you look at it. In some sports, you'll always be able to compete for a title every year. For the Olympics, it's a 4 year wait for a chance to finally get something that matters so to come up short, it has to hurt. But sometimes, it just doesn't work out.

Anyway, may the best team win in the gold and I hope for at least a bronze in men's hockey.

Anyone miss the Olympics yet?

Actually, I do. Although the disjointed TV coverage of events drove me crazy, just watching all the talented athletes was still very uplifting. It was hard not to get caught up in their energy and enthusiasm. Especially on weeknights after work, it was a pleasure to watch these happy and exciting events.
